MADRID, Spain — March 26, 2026 — The Fundación para la Mejora de la Vida, la Cultura y la Sociedad (Fundación Mejora) hosted a public event on March 20 at the Church of Scientology Spain in Madrid, aligning with the International Day of Happiness. The event brought together individuals from various religious and philosophical backgrounds and civic associations to explore campaigns targeting critical social challenges.
Over 50 local leaders attended, aiming to introduce these initiatives to people of all beliefs, provide educational materials, and foster cooperation to extend the reach of these efforts through a supportive network benefiting society.
Representatives from at least four associations joined, showcasing efforts to bridge civil society groups, faith communities, and individuals committed to the common good. Attendees represented diverse religious and philosophical traditions.
By associating with the International Day of Happiness, organizers emphasized that well-being involves responsibility, dignity, and solidarity. The event framed happiness as integral to healthier communities, moral strength, and joint efforts against societal issues.
Campaigns at the event addressed significant societal challenges, focusing on young people, families, and community life, prioritizing practical solutions and educational tools over doctrinal debates, appealing to a broad audience eager to improve societal conditions.
Highlighted campaigns included The Truth About Drugs, Youth for Human Rights, and The Way to Happiness, each offering practical responses to societal needs, forming a comprehensive picture of humanitarian action through prevention, education, and ethics.
The The Truth About Drugs campaign serves as a resource to help inform young people and communities about drug abuse, featuring booklets and audiovisual materials used globally in educational and preventive contexts to aid informed decision-making.
Youth for Human Rights is an educational initiative based on the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, utilizing booklets, lesson plans, and awareness materials to educate children, students, and communities on rights and responsibilities, especially crucial amid ongoing intolerance and division.
Special focus was on The Way to Happiness, a nonreligious moral code by Scientology founder L. Ron Hubbard, offering 21 precepts based on common-sense ethics promoting honesty, self-respect, and respect for diverse beliefs, relevant for diverse, faith-inclusive gatherings.
Fundación Mejora Secretary General Isabel Ayuso-Puente noted the aim of presenting these campaigns together was to demonstrate that effective social improvement stems from shared tools beyond individual institutions, encouraging cooperation among varied groups and individuals to address social issues.
The inclusion of multiple associations broadened the event’s civic scope, underscoring that concerns like addiction, human rights, and ethical education transcend individual organizations, a sentiment echoed by Monica Mu
