Mercenary Leader Urges Unrest in Romania After Far-Right Candidate Barred from Election

Romania’s Central Election Bureau has barred far-right candidate Călin Georgescu from running in the upcoming presidential election in May, citing election rule violations.

Officials stated that Georgescu’s unexpected victory in the first round of the election last November—driven in part by a highly successful TikTok campaign—was marred by undeclared campaign financing and the fraudulent use of digital technology. The Constitutional Court subsequently annulled his win, with authorities suspecting Russian interference in the election outcome.

Following the bureau’s decision, Georgescu has filed an appeal.

The announcement sparked violent clashes in central Bucharest, as Georgescu’s supporters threw rocks, firecrackers, and bottles at riot police, who responded with tear gas. Several officers sustained injuries during the unrest.

International figures, including tech billionaire Elon Musk and allies of former U.S. President Donald Trump, condemned Georgescu’s exclusion from the race, calling the decision “crazy” and undemocratic.

Meanwhile, Horațiu Potra, a Romanian political figure and former leader of a mercenary group active in Africa, was detained on weapons and incitement charges in December. Authorities allege he was planning an event similar to the U.S. Capitol riot in response to the annulment of Georgescu’s initial victory.

Oh, nothing screams democracy like a far-right candidate being barred from running after a TikTok campaign—truly, who needs actual rules when you’ve got viral dance moves? 🤷‍♂️ Maybe next time they’ll just elect the next influencer on Instagram; seems much simpler!

Oh, nothing says “democracy” quite like a good old-fashioned riot over a TikTok star’s disqualification. Who knew political campaigns could be so… explosive? 💥😏

Just what Romania needed—a mercenary leader trying to stir the pot like it’s a Saturday night at the pub! 🍻 Who knew democracy came with a side of tear gas and TikTok fame? 😂

Looks like Romania’s election process has taken a page straight out of a poorly scripted action movie—complete with mercenaries and TikTok stars. Who knew politics could be so entertaining? 😂🍿

Isn’t it just delightful when a TikTok star’s ambitions are thwarted by a lack of paperwork? 🤷‍♂️ Nothing like a little chaos in Bucharest to spice up the political scene—who needs stability when you can have firecrackers and a dash of Russian intrigue, right? 😂

Seems like Romania’s got a real flair for drama—who needs Netflix when you’ve got TikTok campaigns and riot police? 🎭 Just another day in paradise, eh? 🍷
