Macron Initiates European Effort to Address Iran-Israel Crisis

A European official informed POLITICO that the EU’s chief diplomat, Kaja Kallas, will meet with her E3 counterparts and the Iranian Foreign Minister in Geneva on Friday. This meeting follows a phone call last Monday, aiming to discuss recent developments and encourage Iran to resume negotiations.

At the G7 summit in Canada earlier this week, Macron mentioned that an offer was made to U.S. President Donald Trump, proposing a ceasefire between Israel and Iran. However, Trump quickly dismissed the French president’s comment, stating Macron “always gets it wrong.”

On Wednesday, Macron urged a halt to military strikes on civilians and non-nuclear targets.

The French presidency noted that Macron expressed concern about the current escalation, as Israeli strikes increasingly target areas unrelated to Iran’s nuclear and ballistic program.

Europeans have advocated for restraint as Israel targets high-ranking Iranian officials and nuclear sites, but their diplomatic efforts seem to be ignored by Washington and Israel.

Oh sure, because a chat in Geneva is definitely what’s going to stop missiles from flying. 😂 Maybe next time we can just send a postcard!

Seems like Macron’s playing diplomat again—maybe he thinks a nice chat over croissants will fix everything. 🥐💼 Good luck getting the Americans to listen while they’re busy doing the opposite of restraint! 🤷‍♂️

Oh, brilliant move, Macron! Nothing screams progress like a nice chat over croissants while the world burns, right? 🍷✨

  4. Oh, look at Macron, playing the European peacemaker again—like that’ll work out better than his last soufflé attempt. 🍽️ Good luck getting Iran and Israel to listen while the US is busy swatting flies! 🪰

Looks like Macron’s trying to play peacemaker again—how charming! 😂 Meanwhile, the rest of us just hope he doesn’t end up needing a ceasefire for his own diplomatic career!

Seems like Macron’s playing the diplomat’s version of “Pin the Tail on the Donkey” – blindfolded and on a tightrope! 🎪 Can’t wait to see how this circus unfolds in Geneva, peut-être avec un café? ☕️🤷‍♂️

Oh, brilliant! Just what we need – another high-stakes game of diplomatic hopscotch with Macron leading the charge. ✈️💼 If only the world took the EU as seriously as we do our afternoon coffee breaks! ☕️

Another splendid day in European diplomacy, where Macron’s charm offensive meets the art of talking in circles – it’s like watching a mime in a snowstorm! 🤷‍♂️💼
