Large Cache of Precious Stones Seized in Turkey

The Turkish police have confiscated over 155 kilograms of valuable stones and jewelry, including diamonds, rubies, and emeralds, valued at 9.4 million euros during a targeted operation against illegal trading, as reported by TRT Haber.

According to the Istanbul Chief Prosecutor’s Office, the operation took place at 41 different locations. In addition to the seized items, 35 individuals were detained for “illegal import and trade in precious stones” and “forming an organized criminal group.”

During the operation, 155 kilograms and 602 grams of precious stones, along with 945 pieces of jewelry, were seized. These items were illegally brought into the country, with a total market value of 445,750,000 Turkish liras, equivalent to nearly 9.4 million euros.

The operation stemmed from a long-term investigation into the illegal import, transport, and trade of diamonds, emeralds, rubies, quartz, and jewelry.

The Ministry of Finance and Treasury stated that tax inspectors assisted in the searches, conducting inventory and assessment of the seized items.

The prosecutor’s office mentioned that the search for six suspects is still ongoing.

Authorities highlight that the operation significantly impacts organized crime involved in the illegal trade of luxury goods and precious stones in the country.

Oh, fantastic news! Just what Turkey needed—155 kg of shiny rocks to keep the criminals busy instead of, you know, addressing real issues. 💎🙄

  6. Looks like Turkey’s got more bling than a footballer’s wedding, but at least now they’ve got some fancy rocks to show for it—too bad they’re not on the right side of the law! 💎🚔

Just what Turkey needed, a little bling bling seized to spice up the police’s weekend plans. 💎✨ Who knew that diamonds are not just a girl’s best friend, but also a prime target for a police operation? 😂
