The leader of Ukraine’s Orthodox Church, Metropolitan Epiphanius of Kyiv, described the incident as “another Russian crime against humanity, against history, against Christianity.”
“What more must the Kremlin Antichrist do for the world to realize that decisive action must be taken to end Russian terror against Ukraine and the very principles of peace?” he wrote on X.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Russia used 70 missiles and 611 drones in attacks across Ukraine. Kyiv Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko reported that 5 people were killed and 35 injured in the city.
Additional attacks occurred in the Dnipro, Donetsk, Mykolaiv, Sumy, and Zaporizhzhia regions.
EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas and other European diplomats condemned the attacks.
“Last night we saw increased attacks on civilians, including UNESCO heritage sites,” Kallas said before an EU foreign ministers meeting. “These are all war crimes that Russia is committing.”
