BRUSSELS (ANP) – Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán has consistently hindered efforts to take action against Russia and to support Ukraine, sometimes outright opposing such measures. As a result, Ukraine’s allies are increasingly looking to operate outside the framework of the European Union to prevent Orbán from exercising his veto power over their initiatives.
“Yes, this is becoming more challenging. That’s why we are exploring a coalition of the willing under new initiatives,” stated Kallas on her arrival at the EU summit in Brussels. She is referring to her proposal for EU member states to allocate a minimum of 20 billion euros to Ukraine this year. Additionally, a key group of Ukraine supporters is working on establishing security guarantees for the nation and forming a ‘coalition of the willing.’
