BRUSSELS – Kaja Kallas, the EU’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, announced that this month the EU is focusing on evaluating the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina to promote the normalization of their relations.
During a joint press conference with Montenegrin Prime Minister Milojko Spajić in Podgorica, Kallas addressed inquiries about the normalization process, revealing that discussions are ongoing with the EU’s special envoy for this dialogue, Peter Sorensen. The aim is to identify effective strategies and areas that require improvement.
Kallas underscored the significance of normalizing relations between Belgrade and Pristina for the EU, stating that “without it, neither side can advance on the path to EU membership.” She added, “This month, we are collaborating with the special envoy to analyze the missteps along the way, assess what has proven effective, and reignite momentum in the normalization process.” Kallas, who arrived in Montenegro today, is on her inaugural trip to the Western Balkans, which will also include visits to Albania and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
