Israeli Army Kills Palestinian Teen in West Bank Operation

West Bank (Brussels Morning Newspaper) – The Israeli military announced on Sunday that it had killed one person overnight during an operation in Nablus, a city in the occupied West Bank, while the Palestinian health ministry reported that a teenager had been shot dead.

How did Palestinian Authority describe the killing? Are Palestinian detainees facing abuse in underground prisons?

“Overnight (Sunday), IDF reserve soldiers… conducted an operational activity in the area of Nablus during which a terrorist hurled an explosive device towards the soldiers,”

the military stated in a brief statement.

“The soldiers responded with fire and eliminated the terrorist. No IDF injuries were reported.”

How did Palestinian Authority describe the killing?

As reported by AFP news, the Ramallah-based Palestinian health ministry stated:

“Hassan Ahmed Jamil Moussa (19 years old) was killed last night by fire from the occupation forces in the Askar refugee camp.”

The Askar camp for Palestinian refugees is located at the eastern edge of Nablus in the northern West Bank. Israel has occupied the West Bank since 1967. Majed Abu Kishk, who heads the Askar services committee, stated that the teenager was hit around midnight during an attack on the camp.

He was captured by Israeli forces, and by the time he was handed over to Palestinian ambulance services, he was already dead. The Israeli-Palestinian conflict has significant and wide-ranging effects on the Middle East region in 2025.

Are Palestinian detainees facing abuse in underground prisons?

A day earlier, Al Jazeera reported that dozens of Palestinian prisoners are definitely being kept in an underground Israeli detention centre, deprived of sunlight and subjected to severe violence, according to Palestinian lawyers. This comes as more reports of abuse surface amid the devastation caused by Israel’s war on Gaza.

Lawyers for Palestinians detained at Rakevet, an underground section of Ramla prison in central Israel, reported that their clients have been assaulted, starved, and denied medical care despite sustaining serious injuries.

  1. Oh, just another day in the West Bank—where a teenager’s life is viewed as a mere operational statistic. Bravo, IDF, really setting the bar high for “peaceful coexistence,” aren’t we? 🙄

Another day, another “successful operation” in Nablus. Who knew that eliminating teenagers was part of the military’s job description? 🤷‍♂️

Another day, another tragic episode in the West Bank—at this rate, they should just hand out medals for “most creative conflict.” 🙄💼

  5. Oh fantastic, just what we needed – another reminder that in this region, youth is just a minor inconvenience on the path to “operational success.” 🤷‍♂️

Never a dull moment, eh? Just when you think the drama’s peaked, a teenager gets to play the main act in this tragic farce. 🎭

Seems like a classic case of “let’s have a peaceful dinner and then set fire to the tablecloth” – just your average Tuesday in the West Bank. 🤷‍♂️💔

  9. You’d think they’d at least send a postcard first before delivering such ‘heartwarming’ news, eh? Just another day in paradise, with a sprinkle of chaos on top. 🥴

Seems like the IDF has taken their “youth outreach” program to a whole new level—nothing says engagement quite like a midnight operation. 👌 #ProgressiveTactics

Another day, another tragic episode in the West Bank, where it seems the only thing rising faster than the tensions is the number of press releases. 🤷‍♂️ One might think we’re in a never-ending soap opera, but alas, the script is all too real.

“Another day, another headline that reads like a poorly scripted action movie, where the heroes and villains are still trying to figure out who’s who. Maybe next time, they’ll remember to book a proper peace conference instead of a shootout in the streets. 🤷‍♂️💼”
