At least 63 people were injured in a recent strike in Beirut, with Lebanese officials reporting that no senior Hezbollah figures were present in the building that was destroyed. Rescuers are currently working to locate survivors trapped beneath the rubble.
According to security sources and Lebanese officials, Israel is accused of utilizing bunker-penetrating bombs to target underground facilities, a tactic previously used to strike key Hezbollah figures. One notable example was a September attack that killed Hassan Nasrallah, the group’s then-leader.
This latest strike comes amidst heightened tensions in the region, following an arrest warrant issued by the International Criminal Court (ICC) against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant. The ICC has charged them with alleged war crimes in Gaza, citing the use of “starvation as a method of warfare” and targeting civilian populations.
Despite international scrutiny and ongoing diplomatic efforts by U.S. envoy Amos Hochstein to negotiate a cease-fire, Israel continues its military escalation in Lebanon.
