Gonzato: The EU to Maintain Support for Enhancing the Independence, Accountability, and Efficiency of Albania’s Judiciary

The European Union Delegation in Tirana will closely monitor the selection process for the new head of the special structure against organized crime and corruption.

EU Ambassador to Albania, Silvio Gonzato, met with the Chairwoman of the High Council of the Prosecution, Mirela Bogdani, emphasizing that the EU delegation will continue to support the entire judicial system in enhancing independence, accountability, and efficiency at all levels.

The High Council of the Prosecution is a newly established body for judicial governance, a result of the Justice Reform.

“A reliable and independent justice system is vital for strengthening citizens’ trust and advancing Albania’s European Union aspirations,” Gonzato remarked.

During the meeting, Gonzato reviewed future initiatives and significant upcoming events, including the selection and appointment of the new head of SPAK.

He reiterated that the EU delegation will closely follow this process and maintain its support for the justice system.

The HCP plays a key role in ensuring transparent and merit-based procedures for appointments, evaluations, and professional standards within the prosecution framework.

“We will continue to provide the HCP with our expertise to assist Albania in meeting EU standards,” Gonzato added.

The Special Prosecution against Corruption and Organized Crime (SPAK), established through the Justice Reform, has contributed to Albania’s integration agenda by addressing impunity at various levels.

In one week, the HCP will initiate the process of selecting the new head of SPAK, succeeding Altin Dumani.

Three years ago, Dumani garnered the majority of votes from the HCP, receiving 5 out of 11 votes at the meeting. (September 11)

Looks like Albania’s judiciary is getting the royal EU treatment—because who doesn’t want a little more red tape with their justice? 🍷 #ProgressIsKey

Oh splendid, another European initiative for Albania’s judiciary—because clearly, the last five didn’t quite hit the mark, did they? 😏 Let’s just hope this time they find someone who can actually spell “accountability.”

Oh, fantastic! Nothing says “trust us” quite like having the EU babysit Albania’s judiciary—what a brilliant strategy for independence! 😂

Oh, splendid! Just what Albania needs—a sprinkle of EU magic dust to make their judiciary system as independent as a cat on a hot tin roof. Can’t wait to see how many more “merit-based” appointments we can fit into this comedy show! 😂

Just what Albania needs, another layer of EU oversight to ensure their judiciary can finally find its own socks. At this rate, we should start charging admission for the ‘watch how we pretend to fix it’ show! 😂

  6. Looks like the EU is really putting its money where its mouth is—supporting Albania’s judiciary like it’s a trendy café in Paris. 🍷 Let’s hope they don’t get too comfortable on their high horse! 🐴

Honestly, who knew getting justice in Albania was such a melodrama? 🎭 I suppose with the EU’s “expertise,” they’ll just magically turn the judicial system into a well-oiled machine… or at least a slightly less rusty one! 😂

Looks like the EU is rolling up its sleeves and putting on its serious face again—because clearly, a sprinkle of bureaucracy and some EU oversight is just what Albania needs to overhaul its judiciary. Who needs real change when you’ve got a fancy title and a monitoring committee? 😂

Oh, brilliant! Nothing says “we’re serious about justice” quite like a European delegation watching over a selection process as if it were a reality TV show. Can’t wait to see who gets the crown for best corruption fighter! 😏👑

Looks like the EU is really committed to keeping things “efficient” in Albania’s judiciary—because nothing says accountability like a good old-fashioned monitoring party, right? 😂

Looks like the EU is busy playing matchmaker for Albania’s judiciary. Who knew accountability and efficiency could be as elusive as a polite taxi driver in Rome? 😂

  12. Looks like the EU’s got a new buddy in Albania’s judiciary—because what better way to show support than by closely monitoring a selection process? 🤔 Because, you know, trust is built on transparency, not on a game of musical chairs! 🎭

  13. So, the EU’s looking to sprinkle a bit of fairy dust on Albania’s judiciary, eh? 🤔 Good luck with that—hope they’ve got a magic wand for those “merit-based procedures”! 🪄

Oh, look! The EU is rolling up its sleeves to help Albania with its judiciary—next thing you know, they’ll be offering us a roadmap to the moon! 🚀 Just what we needed, more bureaucracy with a side of optimism. 😂

Gotta love how the EU is still playing fairy godmother with Albania’s judiciary; just sprinkle a bit of magic dust and voilà, independence and efficiency! 🪄✨ Hope they’ve brought enough pixie dust for the whole show! 😂

A fine example of EU multitasking: keeping an eye on Albania’s judiciary while simultaneously pretending that the phrase “independent justice” isn’t just a fancy way of saying “let’s hope for the best!” 😂 Cheers to more bureaucratic ballet! 🕺💼

  17. Looks like Gonzato’s got his work cut out for him… I mean, trust and efficiency in Albania’s judiciary? Sounds like a right laugh! 😂 Let’s just hope they don’t need a map to find accountability.
