Gonzato: Supporting Employment and Social Dialogue in Albania via the EU Growth Plan

The second high-level conference titled “Albania 2030 in the EU – The Road of Reforms” took place in Tirana, drawing the attention of Albania’s highest governmental authorities and representatives from the Diplomatic Corps.

During his address at the session on “Social Dialogue in the Western Balkan Countries,” European Union Ambassador Silvio Gonzato affirmed the EU’s support for social policies in Albania.

He emphasized the importance of prioritizing social policies, noting the uncertainty surrounding job security for youth who are increasingly inclined to emigrate.

“Social dialogue is vital for the welfare of Albania and an essential component of social and employment strategies, which fall under group-chapter number 3 that will be opened shortly,” Gonzato remarked.

He also highlighted concerns regarding educational quality, stating that corruption significantly hinders young people’s aspirations.

According to him, there is a pressing need for a merit-based system.

“A more effective social dialogue is necessary. Often, NGOs are better positioned than government officials to engage with the youth,” stated Ambassador Gonzato.

“The European Union stands ready to assist you in employment and social dialogue initiatives through the Growth Plan, which targets socio-economic challenges in Albania and the broader Western Balkans,” he added.

On the other hand, Prime Minister Edi Rama addressed the conference, asserting that Albania’s integration into the European Union is essential for breaking free from its historical burdens.

Rama stressed the urgency for the country to seize the opportunity to finalize negotiations by 2027.

“For us Albanians, EU membership signifies liberation from our past and assurance that our individual freedoms and equality under the law—principles for which we are striving—will not fluctuate based on who governs in Tirana,” Rama remarked.

The Prime Minister underscored the ongoing reforms in Albania, citing advancements in the fight against corruption and improvements in governance, and noted that the negotiation process has now progressed to a more advanced stage.

Rama affirmed, “Albania has only one option, one plan, one path, and that is the European Union.”

The meeting also featured discussions from other high-ranking Albanian officials, including Parliament Speaker Elisa Spiropali and Fatmir Xhafaj, the chairman of the Special Anti-Corruption Commission. (April 4)

Oh, fantastic! Just what Albania needs—a pep talk from the EU about social dialogue and job security! Because nothing screams “let’s fix our economy” like a high-level conference in a comfy chair, right? 😂

Oh, splendid! Nothing says “job security” like a well-timed conference while the youth are packing their bags for the West. 🤷‍♂️ But hey, at least the EU’s got some lovely plans for us—just like a fine wine, they promise to age well. 🍷

  3. Absolutely brilliant! Nothing says “we’re on the right track” quite like a high-level conference in Tirana while the youth are Googling how to emigrate. 🤦‍♂️ Can’t wait for that merit-based system, but I suppose we’ll just keep waiting like we’re at a bus stop in rush hour! 🚌💨

Oh, splendid! Nothing like a high-level conference to remind us how far we’ve come in the art of talking about change while simultaneously perfecting the craft of doing absolutely nothing. 🍷 Let’s just pencil in “big reforms” and hope no one notices!

Oh, splendid! Nothing like a high-level conference to reaffirm that job security for Albanian youth is still as mysterious as a good cup of coffee in a dodgy café. ☕ If only we could export all that ambition instead of the youth! 😅

Oh, splendid! Nothing screams “job security” like a high-level conference in Tirana discussing social policies while the youth are already packing their bags for a one-way ticket to the West. 🇦🇱✈️ Maybe they should hand out EU membership applications as souvenirs! 😄

Absolutely thrilling to see yet another conference where everyone promises to tackle corruption while referring to “merit-based systems”—sounds suspiciously like a fancy way to say, “let’s keep talking instead of doing” 😂. At this rate, Albania will be well on its way to EU membership… right around the time we finally solve the mystery of who really killed JFK! 🕵️‍♂️✨

Oh, marvellous! Nothing screams “we’ve got it all under control” quite like a high-level conference about social dialogue while the youth are packing their bags for a better life elsewhere. 😅 Sure, let’s chat about reforms while we play musical chairs with corruption—brilliant strategy, I must say! 🎩

Oh, splendid! Nothing screams “job security” quite like a conference in Tirana where officials discuss youth emigration as if it’s a trendy vacation option. 😂 Just what we need—more dialogue and fewer jobs!

Oh sure, because nothing screams “job security” like a conference full of bureaucrats discussing social dialogue while the youth are busy shopping for plane tickets! 🎟️✈️ Talk about putting the “fun” in dysfunctional! 😂

Oh, splendid! Just what Albania needed—more “social dialogue” while the youth pack their bags for a one-way ticket to the West. 🧳 Guess we’re all just waiting for the EU fairy godmother to wave her wand!✨
