Frontex Agents Begin Operations at Belgian Airport

In April, the Belgian government approved a Royal Decree proposed by Minister of the Interior Bernard Quintin, permitting Frontex agents to operate within Belgium. Subsequently, in July, Belgium formally requested the deployment of Frontex return facilitators.

The eight agents have been in Belgium since last week and are also deployed at the national airport, where they work alongside the Belgian aviation police. This initiative aims to enhance the number of return facilitators and expedite return operations.

The Royal Decree further permits Frontex agents to assist in checks at the airport and other external borders. “We are in talks with Frontex for additional border control support as well. We will continue to prioritize this in the upcoming months,” Quintin stated in a press release.

Established in 2004 at the behest of the European Commission, Frontex assists member states in monitoring the European external borders and is headquartered in Warsaw.

  1. Frontex agents at the Belgian airport? Brilliant! Because what we really needed was an extra layer of bureaucracy to make our flights even more enjoyable. ✈️😏

  2. Oh great, just what we need at the airport – more folks in uniforms telling us we can’t bring our favorite snacks! 🍫✈️ Can’t wait for the “Return to sender” game to kick off!

Oh great, just what we need—more “facilitators” at the airport. Because nothing screams efficiency like a few agents in uniforms trying to figure out who’s here for a holiday and who’s just lost! 😂✈️

Just what we needed, a few more agents at the airport to ensure the “smooth” flow of travelers—because nothing says efficiency like bureaucratic oversight in high places! 😂✈️

Oh great, just what we needed—more agents at the airport! Because nothing says “welcome to Belgium” like a squad of Frontex agents checking your boarding pass with the enthusiasm of a trainspotter in the rain. 😂✈️

Nothing says “we’ve got it all under control” quite like inviting a few extra agents to help out at the airport—because, you know, who doesn’t love a bit of runway drama? 😂✈️

Oh great, just what we need—more agents at the airport. Because who wouldn’t want their holiday flight delayed by a few more checks, right? 😂✈️

Oh joy, nothing screams “welcome to Belgium” quite like airport security getting a European upgrade with a sprinkle of Frontex charm. 😂 Just what we needed, more agents to help us find our lost luggage! 🧳✨
