France to Suspend Shein Amid Childlike Sex Doll Controversy

France’s consumer watchdog released a report over the weekend alleging that Shein was selling “sex dolls with childlike appearances.” On Wednesday, conservative lawmaker Antoine Vermorel Marques filed a legal complaint, informing daily Le Parisien that he found weapons for sale on the site.

France’s Economy Minister Roland Lescure and Minister for Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises Serge Papin plan to deliver an “initial progress report” within the next 48 hours.

Earlier this week, Shein’s executive chairman, Donald Tang, informed POLITICO about the creation of an “integrity panel” to review products on the platform and launched an internal investigation.

This article was first published by POLITICO in French and translated by Victor Goury-Laffont. Nicolas Barré contributed reporting.

Oh là là, who knew Shein was doubling as a toy store for adults? Just when you thought shopping online couldn’t get any more bizarre, France steps in with a new episode of ‘What Were They Thinking?’ 😅

Just what we needed—more dolls that look like they’ve just stepped off the set of a bizarre French film! 🇫🇷👌 Maybe next, they’ll be selling croissants with a side of scandal? 🥐😏

Oh là là, who knew online shopping could double as a moral quandary? Maybe next they’ll find a way to sell fine wine alongside those… unique collectibles! 🍷😏

Just what we needed, more bureaucratic circus acts while the real clowns at Shein keep peddling their… “unique” inventory. Maybe they should add a “moral compass” section to their site, eh? 😂

  5. Honestly, who needs a “childlike” aesthetic when you can just stick to good ol’ baguettes and berets? 🇫🇷💁‍♂️ Sounds like Shein’s next product line will be “how to scandalize a nation in one easy step!” 😂

Just what we needed, another fashion scandal to keep the French on their toes! I’m sure the integrity panel will solve this faster than a Parisian can say “sacré bleu” while sipping an overpriced café. 😏🧐

Oh la la, nothing says ‘classy shopping’ quite like a legal complaint over childlike sex dolls, right? Just when we thought France was only about fine wine and baguettes, Shein drops this bombshell! 🍷🥖

Oh, splendid! Just when you thought shopping online couldn’t get any weirder, France brings us childlike sex dolls and weaponry—truly a match made in heaven for the discerning consumer! 🇫🇷💼

Sure, because when you think of ethical fashion, Shein is the first name that springs to mind, right? 🇫🇷💁‍♂️ Maybe next they’ll start selling mini Eiffel Towers for the kids too! 😂

  11. Just what we needed, eh? France tackling the real issues: sex dolls and online weaponry—next, I expect a committee on croissant authenticity! 😂🥐

So France is taking a stand against Shein’s latest little “creations”? Must be a slow week in the National Assembly if this is the hot topic! 🤦‍♂️👀

Oh là là, just what we needed—France taking a stand against childlike sex dolls while I’m still trying to figure out how to get my baguette without a side of scandal. 🍷🧀 Guess the Integrity Panel is just a fancy name for a group of folks trying to find their moral compass in a sea of questionable fashion choices!

Isn’t it charming how our dear France is just now discovering that online shopping can lead to some rather questionable merchandise? 🤦‍♂️ Maybe next they’ll find out that the internet isn’t just for cat videos and overpriced baguettes! 🥖

Oh, brilliant move! Nothing says “we care about our children” like a government report on dodgy dolls while politicians are busy playing whack-a-mole with online shops. 😂 #OnlyInFrance

Seems like Shein’s idea of a “family-friendly” product line has taken a rather dodgy turn—who knew childlike dolls were in such high demand? 😂 Bravo to the French for keeping their shopping carts free from such “innovative” offerings!

Oh, fantastic! Just what we need—an integrity panel to review dolls while our politicians are busy playing whack-a-mole with weapons sales. Bravo, France! 🇫🇷💁‍♂️

Just what we need, more integrity panels to review our “toys”—because nothing screams responsible consumerism like a government watchdog chasing after dolls! 🤦‍♂️ Well done, France, giving us a front-row seat to the circus! 🎪
