Flagged individual arrested by Sint-Niklaas police in large-scale operation

Sint-Niklaas (Brussels Morning Newspaper) – In Sint-Niklaas, police arrested a flagged individual, issued 20 Financial Inspection reports, recorded 8 health violations, and fined 12 drivers during a large-scale police operation on Friday, Oct 24, 2025; Alderman Vandendriessche oversaw coordinated enforcement.

As VRT News reported, a large-scale police operation was carried out on Friday evening, Oct 24, 2025, in the Sint-Niklaas station area. During the action, authorities arrested a reported person. The operation was organised in collaboration with the Federal Public Service Finance and the Federal Public Service Health.

What led Sint-Niklaas police to launch another major operation?

The Financial Inspection Service issued 20 reports for various infringements. The Federal Public Service Health recorded 8 violations. 3 people received immediate plea deals for drug possession, while 1 person was charged with weapons possession. Authorities also made 2 targeted arrests: one administrative and one judicial, the latter involving someone who had been under surveillance.

Police carried out strict traffic enforcement in the Sint-Niklaas station area as part of a large operation. 12 drivers were caught ignoring traffic signs. 3 cyclists were fined for using mobile phones while riding. 2 motorists overtook cyclists in bicycle streets, which is prohibited.

The authorities also checked fatbikes and e-bikes for any signs of tampering. Investigations are ongoing from the transport company De Lijn and the railway police Securail. Officials have indicated that there are no results that have been released.

Sint-Niklaas had carried out similar-scale police actions in the past. On July 18, 2025, a shooting in the city centre left 4 individuals critically injured. In the aftermath of the shooting, authorities instituted additional police patrols and set up a temporary police checkpoint and surveillance around the location.

Looks like Sint-Niklaas is really stepping up its game—who knew catching flagged individuals was the new sport of choice? 🏅Next, we’ll have a trophy for the most traffic fines! 😂

  4. So, Sint-Niklaas decided to play cops and robbers again—who knew catching a flagged individual could be such a team sport? 😂 I mean, 20 financial reports and all that jazz, but the real thrill? Fining cyclists for their ‘dangerous’ phone use while ignoring actual criminals. Classic! 🍻

Just another day in Sint-Niklaas, where the police seem to have turned into the local ‘Financial Avengers’—because nothing says “I care about your safety” like issuing a fine for not being able to ride your bike and text at the same time! 🚴‍♂️💸
