Farmers Disrupt Port of Bordeaux, Government Pledges Action

Bordeaux (France) – French farmers continued their protest by blocking the port of Bordeaux on Thursday, expressing their frustration as the Agriculture Minister pledged to address issues regarding banned pesticides.

Members of the Coordination Rurale union piled up large amounts of earth and waste at the site, with reports indicating the presence of 50 tractors and around 150 participants.

The port authorities voiced their confusion, stating, “Bordeaux is a cereal export port that supports the regional agricultural sector” and highlighted that it “does not import cereals.” However, the Coordination Rurale union contests this claim.

Farmers, particularly those growing sugar beets and hazelnuts, are calling for the re-approval of a neurotoxic insecticide that is prohibited in France but permissible in other EU countries.

Minister Annie Genevard, speaking in La Couture (northern France), stated, “What is permitted in Europe should also be permitted in France,” and promised forthcoming announcements regarding measures to simplify regulations.

Additionally, farmers are opposing the free trade agreement between the EU and the Latin American Mercosur nations. (November 21, 2024)

Ah, the farmers of Bordeaux, clearly taking a page from the “How to Win Friends and Influence People” manual by turning the port into their personal tractor exhibition—because nothing says “let’s discuss agricultural policy” quite like blocking trade routes with a good ol’ pile of earth and a sprinkle of neurotoxic charm!

Ah, the farmers of Bordeaux have taken up the noble art of blocking ports—truly the French way of saying, “Don’t put your baguette where it doesn’t belong,” while the government promises to “simplify” regulations, which in European terms usually means giving us a few more months of delightful chaos.

  3. Ah, the farmers of Bordeaux are at it again, blocking the port like it’s a fashionable Parisian protest, all in the name of neurotoxic nostalgia—who knew that growing hazelnuts and sugar beets required a side of chemical warfare with a sprinkle of EU bureaucracy on top?

Ah, the farmers of Bordeaux have taken a break from their leisurely wine tastings to block the port—because nothing says “let’s solve agricultural issues” quite like a good old-fashioned tractor jam, non?

Ah, the French farmers have ingeniously decided that blocking the port of Bordeaux is the best way to get the government’s attention—because nothing says “I need to talk about pesticides” quite like a good ol’ tractor jam; perhaps next they’ll organize a wine tasting at the roundabout while they’re at it!

  6. Well, blocking the port with earth and tractors is a clever twist on the whole “we’re all in this together” theme, isn’t it? 🚜💩 Just when you thought French farmers couldn’t get more *cultivated*, they dig up a protest worthy of a Michelin star! 🍽️😏

  7. Well, isn’t that just a peach? Farmers jamming up the port while the minister promises to “simplify” regulations—nothing screams efficiency like a tractor blockade! 🚜💨 Remind me, is this the agricultural revolution or just a French pastime? 😂
