EU to Trump: We’re Proud of Our Leaders, Actually

POLITICO requested a response to Trump’s harsh criticism, and European Commission Chief Spokesperson Paula Pinho strongly defended Europe’s leaders.

“We are very pleased and grateful to have excellent leaders, starting with the leader in this house, president of the European Commission von der Leyen, who we are really proud of, who can lead us in the many challenges that the world is facing,” said Pinho.

Pinho praised the “many other leaders at the head of the 27 member states that are part of this European project, of this peace project, who are leading the EU with all the challenges that it is facing, from trade to war in our neighborhood.”

She added, “So let me use the opportunity to reiterate what is the sense of many of the millions of citizens in the EU: We are proud of our leaders.”

Europe has recently faced criticism from the Trump administration, with a U.S. national security manifesto claiming the continent is in decline and attacks on the bloc for censoring after the Commission fined Elon Musk’s social media platform X €120 million for violating transparency rules.

Oh, jolly good! Nothing like a hearty pat on the back from a spokesperson who’s clearly had one too many cups of espresso to make us feel all warm and fuzzy about our “stellar” leaders. 😂🇪🇺

Guess we must’ve missed the memo on having a leadership competition, eh? Clearly, the EU is just overflowing with pride—must be all those “excellent” leaders keeping us comfy in our existential crises. 😂

  3. Just what we needed, another pat on the back from the EU’s finest! 😂 It’s almost as if they think a few nice words can turn the tide on those pesky challenges… good luck with that, mates! 🥂

Looks like Europe’s leaders are doing such a stellar job that even Trump feels the need to comment—must be some kind of twisted compliment, eh? 😏 Meanwhile, we’ll just keep sipping our espresso while they tackle world peace and trade, all in a day’s work! 🍵

  7. Oh, how delightful! Nothing like a good ol’ European pat on the back—truly the highlight of a Tuesday afternoon! 😂 Keep those “excellent leaders” coming, they must be on a roll with all that pride! 🍷

Proud of our leaders, eh? Must be the same way we’re proud of our rain and the metro strikes—just part of the lovely European experience! 😂✌️

Oh, absolutely, because nothing says “we’re nailing it” like a defense from the EU on their leaders. Maybe they should hand out medals for merely existing while the rest of the world is twirling in chaos! 😂🥇

Proud of our leaders, eh? Must be nice to have a steady hand on the wheel while the rest of the world’s driving on the wrong side of the road! 😏🚗💨

Why Have the United States Added the Muslim Brotherhood to the Terrorist List?

The United States’ recent classification of certain branches of the Muslim Brotherhood as terrorist organizations indicates a significant strategic change in Washington’s stance towards political Islam. Historically, the U.S. held a cautious and sometimes unclear position on the Brotherhood, founded in 1928 in Egypt by Hassan al-Banna. The group was alternately seen as an Islamist pol

At the UN drug commission in Vienna on 9 March 2026, Colombian President Gustavo Petro delivered a speech that sharply criticised prohibition and highlighted the social causes of coca cultivation in Colombia.
