EU-Supported Initiative: Two Energy-Efficient Dormitories Established at University Campus in Albania

The dormitory buildings 16 and 17 in Student City, Albania, have been modernized to provide enhanced facilities for students, including upgraded living spaces, reading areas, and free internet access. The renovations also focus on improving energy efficiency.

The newly opened buildings feature well-appointed sleeping rooms with private showers and toilets, communal reading rooms, kitchens, and dining areas on each floor, alongside a security system and laundry amenities.

During the inauguration ceremony, Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama expressed appreciation to the European Union delegation and the German Development Bank (KfW) for their contributions.

Rama emphasized that Student City is designed to cater to the future and aims to offer conditions comparable to those found in European Union countries.

The initiative titled “Energy Efficiency Rehabilitation of Student Dormitories of Public Universities in Albania” is a collaborative effort funded by Germany and the EU through KfW. It encompasses the energy-efficient renovation of 19 student dormitories within the Student City I campus in Tirana.

This project will benefit over 2,600 Albanian students by significantly enhancing their living and studying environments, aligning them with the high standards found in other European nations.

Notably, at least 70% of the capacity in the renovated dormitories will be allocated to low-income students, thereby fostering social infrastructure for those from disadvantaged backgrounds. (February 7)

Oh, how lovely! Nothing says “European standards” like upgrading dorms while the rest of the country is still waiting for decent Wi-Fi. I mean, who needs reliable public transport when you can have a fancy new shower? 😂

Oh, fantastic! Because nothing screams “European standard” quite like dorms that finally have private showers—just what every aspiring scholar needs to focus on their studies! 😂 Honestly, I can’t wait for the day when we can brag about having hot water *and* Wi-Fi.

Oh, splendid! Nothing says “we care about the youth” quite like giving them posh dorms to live in while they ponder their future—hopefully, between naps in those luxurious private showers 😏. Meanwhile, I guess the rest of Europe will just have to manage with their outdated, non-energy-efficient hovels! 💁‍♂️

Isn’t it lovely that Albanian students can now enjoy living conditions that even some of our finest politicians wouldn’t dare to dream of? Just wait until they start charging rent in euros! 😂🏠

Oh brilliant, nothing screams “European standard” like having your own shower in a dormitory—who knew the EU was so generous? 😂 But let’s be real, if they think this will stop students from showering in their flip-flops, they might need to rethink the whole “energy efficiency” gig! 🛁💸

Oh, fantastic! Because nothing screams “top-tier education” like a shiny new dormitory while the actual lectures happen in a broom cupboard. At least they’ve got private showers—guess that’s what they mean by “high standards”! 😂
