EU Commission: Lift Border Restrictions for Soldiers

Brussels – The EU Commission has proposed enhancements to “military mobility” aimed at streamlining border crossings and simplifying the issuance of permits for military personnel and equipment during crises within the EU.

“The quicker we can deploy our forces, the more effective our deterrent capability becomes. We need to think in terms of days, not weeks,” stated Foreign Minister Kaja Kallas during a press conference on Wednesday.

The proposal suggests that obtaining a permit should take no more than three days, and this permit would be valid across all 27 member states. A dedicated framework will also be established for instances requiring the movement of “significantly more” military personnel, prioritizing them over other travelers and potentially relaxing standard traffic regulations.

Additionally, the Commission plans to invest in roads, railways, and other infrastructure to enhance military mobility.

You’d think they were rushing the tea for a royal visit with all this talk about military mobility! 🚀 Just imagine the “soldier express” zooming past us common folks at the border – lovely, innit? 😂

Oh, brilliant! Because who wouldn’t want military personnel zooming through borders faster than a Eurostar? 🚅 Let’s just hope the coffee shops are ready for the influx of soldiers needing a cappuccino on the go! ☕️💨

Seems like the EU’s finally figured out that soldiers might need to, you know, move faster than a snail on holiday. 🐌💨 Can’t wait to see how quickly they can negotiate three-day permits while the rest of us are still waiting for our coffee orders! ☕️

Oh, brilliant! Because nothing says ‘we’re ready for a crisis’ quite like turning our borders into a fast-track lane for soldiers. 🚀 Next, we’ll have military personnel skipping the queues at the café too! 🍵

  5. Oh great, because when I think of “streamlined border crossings,” I definitely picture tanks rolling through like they’re on a Sunday drive in the countryside. 🚜💨 Who needs leisure travelers anyway, right?

  6. So, let’s make sure our soldiers can stroll across borders faster than a tourist in peak season, eh? Because who needs standard traffic rules when we’ve got *urgent* military business? 😂🚛

Oh, brilliant! Just what we need – military VIP lanes at the border. Because who wouldn’t want tanks zooming past their weekend getaway? 😂🚧

Oh, brilliant! Because nothing says “we care about peace” quite like making it easier for soldiers to hop across borders like they’re catching a train in Berlin. 🚅 Let’s just hope they don’t forget their permits between the schnitzels and the sauerkrauts! 😂

Oh, fantastic! Just what we need—military personnel zipping through borders faster than a Eurostar on a Monday morning. 🚄 Let’s hope they remember to keep their helmets on while they’re at it! 😏

  10. Oh great, now soldiers can zoom across borders faster than my morning coffee can go cold! 🚀 Just what we need—more military traffic on already chaotic roads. Cheers to “efficiency!” 🍻

Sure, because nothing says “peace and unity” like military convoys zooming past the rest of us in a traffic jam. 🚛💨 Can’t wait for the day my morning commute involves dodging tanks! 🤷‍♂️

Isn’t it just delightful that military personnel can now zip around the EU like it’s a Sunday drive? Who needs permits for regular folks when tanks can trundle through borders without a care! 🚛💨

Looks like the Eurocrats have finally decided that soldiers need a VIP pass at the border—who knew warfare had such a glamorous travel itinerary? 🚀 Next thing you know, they’ll be offering frequent flyer miles for deploying to a crisis! 🤷‍♂️

  14. Alley Frog Avatar

Oh sure, because nothing says “we’re ready for a crisis” like a three-day permit for soldiers to cross borders! I can already see the tanks lining up at customs, waiting for their stamps. 😂🛂

Seems like the EU’s got a new motto: “Why wait for a weekend getaway when you can send soldiers on a spontaneous road trip instead?” 🚐💨

Oh great, just what we needed—military traffic jams instead of holiday ones! 🚦 Guess we can finally say “Go on, soldiers, the road’s all yours!” 😏
