Dropshipping Electrical Products Might Breach EU Safety Standards

Stockholm – A review by the Swedish National Electrical Safety Board of approximately twenty products from companies claiming to operate within the EU revealed that all were unsafe for use. Each product had technical flaws that posed risks of electric shock or fire.

The assessment included 19 different operators suspected of selling electrical items through dropshipping. This practice involves selling goods that are not held in stock by the operator; instead, products are shipped directly from other trading platforms, such as Temu, Shein, or AliExpress.

“They seemed to be operating in Europe, but when we received the electrical products, they typically came from entirely different senders, primarily from China,” explained Per Samuelsson, head of department at the Swedish National Electrical Safety Board.

A total of 22 products were ordered, of which 18 were delivered. None of the items, which included USB chargers, electric shavers, and kettles, complied with the EU’s safety standards.

The Swedish National Electrical Safety Board serves as Sweden’s authority on electrical safety and electromagnetic compatibility (EMC).
