Dilbeek Eylenboschstraat Roadworks Block Three Roads, Impacting Shops

Dilbeek (Eurotoday) – Roadworks in Eylenboschstraat, Schepdaal, Belgium, have closed all three access roads, severely impacting local businesses. Laura’s bakery has lost 50% of its sales and experienced internet disruptions. Many shops are struggling, but after complaints, two roads will reopen before April 11, 2025.

Business owners in Dilbeek’s Eylenboschstraat, Schepdaal, Belgium, are facing major difficulties due to ongoing roadworks. The closures, necessary for installing new utility lines, have made it nearly impossible for customers to access shops. With all three access roads blocked, many businesses are experiencing significant drops in sales.

The construction is being carried out in blank”>four phases, with the final stage set to shut down the street completely for a week. Business owners report that foot traffic has declined steeply, leading to financial struggles not only for individual shops but for the local economy as a whole.

How Are Eylenboschstraat’s Roadworks Affecting Shops?

Laura, a bakery owner, has been hit particularly hard by the road closures. Her sales have dropped by 50%, leading to wasted unsold goods. She even experienced entire afternoons without selling a single cake.

According to Laura, the roadworks are not only hurting her bakery but also other small businesses in the area. She believes future construction projects should consider their impact on local shops and ensure that businesses can continue operating.

Our biggest frustration is that all three access roads are closed,

says Laura.

In addition to financial losses, the bakery is also dealing with technical difficulties. A cable was accidentally cut, resulting in a loss of phone and internet services. Customers are unable to place orders or make card payments, worsening the situation for Laura's business.

She expressed frustration that other shops on the street are facing similar hardships, with at least one business deciding to close for a full week due to the ongoing challenges.

The roadworks are expected to continue until April 11, 2025. However, after complaints from shop owners, construction teams have revised their plans to reopen two of the closed roads to restore some access to businesses.

Caroline, who runs the Spar supermarket, welcomed the decision, appreciating that authorities listened to their concerns. While she acknowledges the necessity of the construction, she wishes there had been better communication about the expected disruptions before it began.

Oh, brilliant move, closing all the roads—nothing like giving local businesses a crash course in financial survival, right? 🚧 At this rate, Laura’s bakery might as well start selling road cones instead of cakes! 😅

Oh, brilliant! Nothing like a good old roadwork fest to ensure local businesses really get to feel the pinch—who needs customers anyway? 🎉 At this rate, I’m surprised they’re not handing out ‘Business of the Year’ awards for the most spectacular closure! 😅

Ah, the charm of roadworks in Dilbeek—who knew blocking three roads would turn Laura’s bakery into an exclusive cake-tasting event for the neighborhood foxes? 🍰🚧 Maybe next time they’ll hand out free croissants to the construction crew; at least someone would be benefiting! 🤷‍♂️
