During the opening night of his European tour in Manchester, iconic American musician Bruce Springsteen delivered a fiery critique of U.S. President Donald Trump and his administration.
Taking the stage with the E Street Band, Springsteen decried the current state of leadership in the United States. “The America I love, the one I’ve written about—built on hope and freedom for the past 250 years—is now under the control of a corrupt, incompetent, and treasonous administration,” he told the crowd.
Later in the performance, the rocker expressed deeper concern over recent political developments. “There’s some very weird, strange, and dangerous stuff going on right now,” Springsteen said, appearing to reference controversial spending cuts linked to billionaire presidential adviser Elon Musk. He continued: “In America, people are being persecuted simply for exercising their right to free speech. Meanwhile, the wealthiest individuals find satisfaction in turning their backs on the world’s poorest children, condemning them to sickness and death. This isn’t some distant threat—it’s happening now.”
Springsteen’s remarks added a sharp political edge to the concert, reflecting his long history of activism and advocacy for social justice.
