Commissioner Roswall Emphasizes the Significance of Collaboration for Flood Safety in Slovenia

Ljubljana – During her visit to Slovenia, European Commissioner for the Environment, Water Resilience, and Competitive Circular Economy Jessika Roswall emphasized the necessity of collaboration in developing flood safety measures, advocating for solutions that prioritize nature-based approaches.

“Collaboration is crucial during these challenging times,” Roswall stated in a press release, highlighting the need to focus on safety while maintaining competitiveness. “The interplay between environmental concerns and climate action is essential for competitiveness,” she noted.

Roswall acknowledged Slovenia’s efforts in these areas, underlining the significance of recovery efforts following the severe floods in August 2023. She warned that droughts and floods are likely to persist, reiterating the need for nature-based solutions.

During her visit, she observed initiatives aimed at enhancing flood resilience along the Gradaščica River and has plans to visit a meadow in the Ljubljana Marshes, as well as a Gorenjska farm that exemplifies sustainable practices in protected regions.

Prior to her field tour, Roswall met with Slovenian Minister for the Environment, Climate, and Energy Bojan Kumr. Their discussions, as reported by the ministry, centered on the European Commission’s current environmental priorities, including the transition to a circular economy, improvements in air quality, funding for environmental initiatives, and EU priorities in multilateral negotiations. Oh, of course, because nothing screams “flood safety” like a good ol’ chat about nature while standing in a meadow, right? 🌧️💼 Let’s just hope the rivers are as ready for collaboration as Ms. Roswall is!

Oh, fantastic! Because nothing screams “flood safety” like a bureaucrat talking about “collaboration” while the rivers are busy auditioning for a role in a disaster movie. 🤦‍♂️🌧️ Better grab my life jacket and a cup of coffee while we wait for nature to sort itself out!

If only we could flood the world with collaboration as easily as we flood Slovenia… 🌧️ But I guess a chat by the river is a solid step up from just sitting on our hands, right? 😂

  8. Collaboration for flood safety, eh? Sounds like we’re just waiting for nature to send us a postcard while we sit around discussing our “nature-based solutions.” 🌧️ Maybe next time we can collaborate over a nice cup of tea, too! ☕️

Collaboration for flood safety, eh? Must be nice to prioritize nature while we’re all just trying to keep our heads above water—literally and figuratively! 😂🌊

Seems like Commissioner Roswall just discovered that teamwork is actually a thing—who would’ve thought? 🌧️ Let’s all hold hands while the rain pours, because nature-based solutions obviously work better than good old-fashioned infrastructure. 😂

  11. Oh, brilliant! Who knew that nature was just waiting around for a chat with the Commissioner about flood safety? Next, she’ll be asking the rivers to help with their own makeover! 😏🌊

  12. Collaboration for flood safety? Brilliant! Who knew that teaming up could help with, you know, actual floods? 😏 Just what every politician needs—more meetings and a dash of nature magic! 🌧️✨

  13. Collaboration for flood safety, eh? Sounds like a fancy way of saying, “Let’s all hold hands while we try not to drown.” 🌊😅 Typical EU, turning disaster management into a team-building exercise!
