Beveren-Kruibeke-Zwijndrecht (Eurotoday) – As Red Sebastian gears up for the Eurovision Song Contest in Basel, Switzerland, the newly created municipality of Beveren-Kruibeke-Zwijndrecht held its inaugural EuroFUSION Song Contest over the weekend. The event took place in the sub-municipality of Bazel, providing an ideal venue for the celebration.
With Belgium’s Red Sebastian preparing to take the European stage in Basel, Switzerland, the recently merged municipality—formed by joining Beveren, Kruibeke, and Zwijndrecht—hosted its first-ever EuroFUSION Song Contest, as reported by VRT.
Bazel was chosen to host the event both for its central location and as a symbolic nod to the Swiss city of Basel, this year’s Eurovision host. Thirteen musical acts, each representing one of the sub-municipalities within Beveren-Kruibeke-Zwijndrecht, competed for the title of “Best Musical Sub-Municipality.”
The competition adopted familiar Eurovision-style elements such as video intros, jury votes, and audience televoting. Ahead of the performances, the audience was treated to a video message from Belgium’s Eurovision hopeful, Red Sebastian. Representing Beveren, the duo “Robby G and F.Dot” wowed the crowd with their song “BKZ” and won the contest. They are now scheduled to perform at several local events, including the Beverse Feesten.
“This is the most beautiful experience of our lives,”
the duo said after their win.
“We have never been so happy.”
Why was the EuroFUSION Song Contest created?
The EuroFUSION Song Contest was launched as part of celebrations marking the formation of the new municipality of Beveren-Kruibeke-Zwijndrecht, which officially comes into existence on January 1, 2025. This merger in the East Flanders Waasland region aims to foster a shared cultural identity and strengthen the community spirit among residents of the previously separate municipalities.
Organisers envisioned the contest as a platform to unite local creativity and spark dialogue around the cultural fabric of the new municipality. By encouraging collaboration and artistic expression, the event aimed to build bridges between different local communities and generate a sense of belonging in the newly combined municipality.
The EuroFUSION Song Contest also echoes broader European trends of cultural unity, blending tradition and innovation in a celebration of diversity and shared identity in a united region.

Oh, fantastic! Nothing screams “cultural unity” quite like a mini-Eurovision in a town that sounds like a bad Scrabble hand! 🎤💃 Let’s just hope the sub-municipality can handle all that star power without collapsing into a pile of confetti! 😂

Oh, splendid—a EuroFUSION Song Contest! Just what we needed to showcase our merger of local municipalities; because nothing says unity like a bunch of sub-municipalities battling it out for the title of “Best Musical Sub-Municipality.” 🎤🇧🇪 Who needs Eurovision when you’ve got Bazel’s finest, eh?

Just what we needed—a EuroFUSION contest to unite the musically inclined sub-municipalities of Beveren-Kruibeke-Zwijndrecht! Because nothing screams cultural harmony quite like a showdown over who can sing the loudest, right? 🎤😏

So, the newly minted Beveren-Kruibeke-Zwijndrecht thinks they can fuse music and municipal pride like a bad Belgian stew—where’s my fork? 🍴 At least I can finally tell my mates I’ve been to an event that’s as convoluted as the name itself! 😂

Oh, nothing screams “cultural unity” quite like a song contest in Bazel, right? 🎤 I mean, who needs a Eurovision when you can have the *EuroFUSION*—like a fine Belgian beer, but with more off-key notes and fewer fans! 🍻🎶

Oh, splendid! Nothing screams cultural unity quite like watching a bunch of local acts compete for the title of “Best Musical Sub-Municipality” while the entire continent rolls their eyes. 🎤🇧🇪 If only there were awards for best post-merger awkwardness! 😂

Oh, splendid! Nothing screams “cultural unity” quite like a song contest in a place no one can spell, while we wait for Eurovision to remind us that our real talents lie in chocolate and fries. 🎤🍟 Will the winner get a trophy or just a free pass to the next municipal meeting? 🤔
