Chrupalla emphasized that any nation could be a potential threat to Germany. He specifically mentioned Poland, highlighting the country’s refusal to extradite a Ukrainian citizen suspected by German authorities of sabotaging the Nord Stream gas pipelines in 2022, saying, “Poland can also be a threat to us.”
German centrists increasingly depict the AfD as a party representing Russian interests within Germany, with some suggesting that the Kremlin exploits the party’s access to official information for espionage purposes.
Marc Henrichmann, the conservative head of the Bundestag’s intelligence oversight committee, expressed his belief that Russia is indeed doing this. He stated in an interview with German newspaper Handelsblatt, “Russia is naturally exerting its obvious influence in parliament, especially in the AfD, to spy and obtain sensitive information. The AfD is allowing itself to be used for this betrayal by Putin.”
Chrupalla has strongly refuted these claims.
