French Police Prevented from Raiding Macron’s Palace to Investigate Panthéon Contracts

National Financial Prosecutor Pascal Prache stated that a failed raid was part of an investigation related to contracts for organizing memorial ceremonies. French presidency staff informed investigators they couldn’t search the Elysée Palace due to presidential immunity, according to the statement.

Investigators were probing allegations of favoritism, corruption, influence peddling, and conflict of interest in regard to memorial ceremonies at the Panthéon in Paris, as mentioned in the prosecutor’s statement. The Panthéon mausoleum houses the remains of notable French figures, with recent additions like French-American singer Josephine Baker.

French newspaper Le Canard Enchainé, which first reported the attempted raid, indicated that investigators were scrutinizing the awarding of contracts to a company named Shortcut Events for Panthéon ceremonies, with each ceremony reportedly costing €2 million.

Reports suggest investigators are examining connections between Shortcut Events and the Centre for National Monuments, a French agency managing historical heritage.

Looks like the Elysée Palace is playing a great game of hide and seek with the law—presidential immunity really is the VIP pass for dodging the spotlight, n’est-ce pas? 🍷💼

Seems like the French police took a wrong turn on their way to the Elysée—guess they didn’t have the right VIP pass! 😂 Who knew a palace could have more protection than a royal castle in a fairy tale?

  3. Typical French flair for a good show, eh? Who needs transparency when you’ve got presidential immunity and a €2 million price tag for a bit of ceremony? 😂🍷

Funny how the only thing more immovable than the Panthéon’s stones is the president’s immunity. Who knew €2 million events came with a side of “not my circus, not my monkeys”? 😂💼

Seems like the Elysée Palace has its own version of ‘hands off’—who knew presidential immunity included dodging a little financial scrutiny? 🤷‍♂️ €2 million for a party at the Panthéon? I guess even the ghosts need a good time now and then! 🥳
