Czarzasty: Poland Aims to Play an Active Role in Strengthening European Resilience

The establishment of a European defense community is progressing, with Central and Eastern Europe becoming increasingly vital, emphasized Marshal of the Sejm Włodzimierz Czarzasty during a recent meeting with diplomatic representatives. He stated that Poland aims to play an active role in fostering European resilience.

“We aspire to create a bold and assertive European Union, which must have a significant role in security issues; a secure European Union translates to a secure Poland,” Czarzasty remarked during the meeting in the Sejm.

He noted, “The European defense community is taking shape, with Central and Eastern Europe acquiring strategic significance.” “Poland seeks to be actively involved in the fortification of European resilience,” he reiterated.

“We wish to encourage all nations that recognize similar threats to collaborate. We particularly look towards our partners in the Baltic and Nordic regions, with whom we are working together to bolster the security of the eastern border,” stated the Marshal.

Simultaneously, he added that the Sejm aims to actively contribute to the security dialogue through its initiatives, extending invitations accordingly. “A conference focused on the new European security identity is a key event we plan to host next year in Poland, featuring speakers from the parliaments of EU member states,” Czarzasty announced.

He mentioned that formal invitations for this event will be sent out shortly.

“We are also committed to significantly enhancing parliamentary interactions with the United States Congress. We aim to fortify Poland’s image as a dependable and responsible ally and advocate for a robust American presence in NATO,” said the Marshal.

In his opinion, “exchanges between Polish parliamentarians and U.S. Congress members, particularly to the eastern border, are effective methods to strengthen our allied relations.” “Only genuine and frequent intergovernmental contacts can establish enduring connections between us,” Czarzasty asserted.

He highlighted that over 80 bilateral friendship groups are currently functioning within the Sejm. “All of them are open and ready to collaborate with your countries,” the Marshal emphasized, addressing the meeting participants.

“I encourage you to pursue joint initiatives, as well as propose your own ideas. Thank you sincerely for your presence during these challenging and transformative times,” he concluded. (28.01.26)
