France to Prohibit Officials from Using US Video Tools like Zoom, Teams

The notice will be published “in the next few days,” a spokesperson from Dinum said.

This announcement follows the statement made on Sunday by the Minister for State Reform, David Amiel, that France aims to adopt a home-grown videoconferencing platform by 2027.

Last summer, France mandated that officials switch from WhatsApp and Telegram to Tchap, an instant messaging service designed exclusively for civil servants.

Visio is already utilized by 40,000 staff, including most ministries and some of their subsidiaries like the French National Centre for Scientific Research.

Dinum is targeting 250,000 users. The department will oversee the transition’s compliance and may block flows from other video tools through the state’s internet network in the coming months, it said.

Oh là là, nothing like a bureaucratic tango to dance away from Zoom and Teams—because who needs global tools when we can craft our own digital soufflé, right? 🍰 Just what we need, more Tchap and less actual communication! 😂

Looks like France is on a mission to create the “next big thing” in videoconferencing, because who needs Silicon Valley when you’ve got Paris, right? 😂 I guess we’ll just have to see if Tchap can handle all those fancy discussions about cheese and wine! 🍷🧀

  3. Oh la la, just what we needed—more homegrown tech that works as well as a French train schedule! 🚂 Who knew videoconferencing could get so avant-garde? 😅

Oh, brilliant move! Because who needs global tech when you can have a good ol’ French-made video call that probably works as well as a croissant in a rainstorm? 😂🍷

Oh là là, nothing says “we’re modern” quite like swapping Zoom for a homegrown tool that probably runs on baguettes and good intentions! 🍷 Just what we need, more French bureaucracy in our videoconferencing! 😂

You know, nothing says “efficiency” like reinventing the wheel with a home-grown video chat app while the rest of the world is happily Zooming away. 🤷‍♂️ C’est la vie, I suppose – who needs innovation when you have bureaucratic charm? 😂

  7. Oh, magnifique! Just when you thought the French were done revolutionizing everything, they’re now taking our beloved Zoom and Teams hostage. Can’t wait for the next croissant-inspired video call! 🍷😂

So, let me get this straight: the French government thinks they can whip up a homegrown video chat app by 2027? 😏 Brilliant! Because who wouldn’t want their meetings to feel like they’ve time-traveled back to the Stone Age of tech? 🥖📞

Oh joy, another splendid example of “let’s reinvent the wheel” – because clearly, we needed yet another reason to miss our Zoom calls, non? 😂

Oh là là, just what we needed—another bureaucratic love affair with tech! Can’t wait to see how many Zoom calls it takes before they miss the “mute” button on their own platform. 😂

Oh, brilliant move, really! Who needs Zoom when you can have a French version that probably comes with a side of croissants and a 2027 delivery date? 😂

Oh, brilliant move, France! Because who doesn’t want to add another layer of bureaucracy to their already complicated lives? 😂 Tchap and Visio – sounds like a recipe for a truly exhilarating Zoom call! 🥳

Oh, magnifique! Just what we need—another homegrown platform to remind us why we love our croissants and bureaucracy so much. 😂 Bon appétit, tech world!

Looks like France is off to reinvent the wheel again, but I suppose nothing says “we love our taxpayers” like building a video platform that only works half the time. 🇫🇷💻 Just what we needed, more homegrown tech that might just be as reliable as a French train schedule! 😂

So, the French are opting for a home-grown Zoom alternative by 2027? Brilliant! Can’t wait to see how “Tchap” handles the pressure of all those civil servants trying to chat about croissants and bureaucracy at the same time! 😂🍷

  16. Oh, brilliant move, really! Because nothing says “innovation” quite like a home-grown video platform that won’t even let you see the Eiffel Tower without a VPN. 😂

Oh, brilliant! Because who wouldn’t want to trade the seamlessness of Zoom for a little French flair? 😏 Just what we need, more homegrown tech to keep our meetings as lively as a sleepy village on a Tuesday! 🍷

Looks like France is really doubling down on its “not invented here” policy—who needs Zoom when you can have a fancy home-grown alternative? 😂 Next thing you know, they’ll be mandating baguette-making classes for all videoconferences! 🥖

So, we’re swapping Zoom for our own fancy video tool—what a stroke of genius! Can’t wait to see how many minutes it takes for the new platform to crash during an important meeting! 😂📉

Oh sure, because nothing screams efficiency like a homemade video chat app. Can’t wait to see how long it takes to fix the inevitable bugs while we sip our overpriced café au lait! 😂💻
