Slovak Prime Minister: EU Will "Perish" if Sovereign Policy and Traditions Are Not Respected

Bratislava – Prime Minister Robert Fico of the Slovak Republic (Smer-SD) stated that the European Union (EU) will “perish” if it fails to respect sovereign politics, traditions, and historical roots. This statement was made during Thursday’s Question Time in the National Council (NR) of Slovakia, in response to a query regarding the new national security strategy of the United States. Fico believes the document indicates that the EU is neglecting its core values and leadership roles, a sentiment he supports, according to TASR.

Fico remarked, “Can we be upset with the Vice President of the USA, who claimed that the EU is completely forsaking its traditions? We cannot; he is absolutely correct. If the EU continues down this path without honoring sovereign politics, traditions, and historical roots, then it will perish. And if that is to happen, so be it,” he asserted.

He emphasized that Slovakia would uphold its positions and traditions, referencing the constitutional amendment that defines the existence of two genders in Slovak law. He indicated that this issue has created a conflict with the Party of European Socialists (PES).

Fico described the new US security strategy as focused on values, presenting a fresh perspective from the United States on Europe and the EU. “This document reiterates that the European Union is abandoning its fundamental values, lacks leadership, and is diminishing in its global standing,” he noted, adding that this aligns with a viewpoint they have long maintained.

He further stated that the EU is not exerting real leadership as it once did and is losing its status on the global stage. (11 December)

“If the EU continues like this and does not respect sovereign politics, traditions, historical roots, then it will perish. And if it is to perish, let it perish.” Robert Fico.

Typical Fico drama, isn’t it? Perfectly timed for a bit of theatrics – maybe he should consider a career in soap operas instead of politics! 😂

  2. Oh, brilliant! The Prime Minister’s got us all on the edge of our seats, waiting for the EU to do a dramatic exit. Next, he’ll be handing out popcorn at the council meetings. 🍿

Oh, lovely, more traditional values being thrown around like confetti at a wedding! Maybe the EU should just start charging for nostalgia, eh? 🇸🇰💼

  6. Classic Fico! Next, he’ll suggest we all take up archery and start wearing lederhosen to save the EU. 😂 If respecting traditions means clinging to outdated ideas, then count me out, mate!

Blimey, sounds like Fico’s auditioning for a tragic play on the EU stage – “Perish or Flourish,” starring the Sovereign Traditions! 🎭 Hope he’s got a backup plan, because drama like this won’t pay the bills, mate! 😏

Oh, brilliant! Who knew that a Prime Minister could double as a fortune teller? “Perish” might just be the new “adieu” in Fico’s dictionary. 😂

  10. Seems like Slovakia’s Prime Minister is preparing for the EU’s funeral already—better pick out a nice suit, eh? 😂 If traditions are the lifeboat, I hope he brought a life jacket!

Looks like Fico just threw the EU a lifebuoy made of traditional Slovakian bread – it’s either that or watch it sink without even a proper farewell party. 🍞👋 Perish, you say? Sounds like a cheeky new EU slogan!

Typical Fico, always ready to throw a dramatic tantrum; you’d think he’s auditioning for a role in a Slovak soap opera! 😏 “Respect our traditions,” he says, as if the EU is just a bad chef ignoring his grandma’s recipe. 🍲
