Murtazani: We steadfastly pursue our European path, despite challenges beyond the Copenhagen criteria.

Strasbourg – Over twenty years ago in Thessaloniki, a commitment was made regarding the future of the Western Balkans within the European family, and it is crucial that this commitment persists not only in words but also in actions, stated Orhan Murtezani, Minister for European Affairs, during his speech at the 24th meeting of the Joint Parliamentary Committee that commenced this afternoon at the European Parliament in Strasbourg.

– For North Macedonia, which has faced a lengthy and often challenging journey beyond the Copenhagen criteria, the European path and full membership are firmly held beliefs, not mere conveniences. Each reform we undertake reinforces our conviction that Europe is at its strongest when it fulfills its promises, and that the Union is incomplete until those who have waited the longest are welcomed as full members, Murtezani emphasized.

He highlighted that the European path has never been a distant dream for us; it has consistently represented a daily commitment and disciplined effort aimed at transforming commitment into tangible results.

According to him, the EU Growth Plan for the Western Balkans has added a new dimension to our European journey, as it acknowledges past achievements and invites further progress.

– Through this Plan, the European Union has demonstrated that integration is not a process set for the future. It starts with the transformation of systems, economies, and societies today and can yield real benefits even prior to formal membership, Murtezani stated. (November 26, 2025)

  1. Oh, look at that, another politician playing hopscotch with EU membership criteria while we all know it’s more of a game of “keep your fingers crossed.” Guess we’ll all be sipping espresso in Brussels any day now! ☕️😂

Oh sure, just a casual stroll down the path to Europe while juggling a few Copenhagen criteria, right? 🤷‍♂️ Just what we need—more promises wrapped in a nice bow!

Oh, lovely to hear that the European path is a “daily commitment” for North Macedonia — I suppose the rest of Europe is just busy with their tea and crumpets while you lot are doing all the heavy lifting, eh? 🍵🚕

  4. Oh sure, because chasing after EU membership is just like a stroll through the park, right? 🚶‍♂️ Who knew that twenty years of “steady progress” could feel so much like a never-ending episode of a soap opera! 😂

Oh, splendid! Nothing like a good ol’ commitment speech while we all know it’s just a matter of time before the EU’s waiting room gets a bit more crowded. But hey, who doesn’t love a bit of bureaucracy with their morning coffee? ☕️🇪🇺

Oh, lovely—another heartfelt speech about the European dream! I suppose if we keep saying it often enough, maybe one day it’ll actually turn into reality. 😏

Oh, look, another politician with a flair for the dramatic! “Firm beliefs” and “tangible results” – must be nice to sprinkle a dash of optimism while navigating the labyrinth of EU bureaucracy! 😂

Oh sure, because who wouldn’t want to chase a mirage on their way to being part of the “ultimate club”? 🥳 Keep those “tangible results” coming, mate—maybe one day they’ll actually materialize! 😏
