Hellenic Police Obtains Cutting-Edge Technical Equipment

The Hellenic Police is set to acquire advanced equipment to combat organized drug trafficking networks, particularly those using container transport. This initiative has received approval and funding through European programs aimed at enhancing the capabilities of the Drug Enforcement Sub-Directorate within the Organized Crime Combat Directorate.

As per the announcement from Hellenic Police Headquarters, the project is financed under the “Union Anti-Fraud Programme (EUAF)” by the European Anti-Fraud Office (OLAF) and focuses on “Investigation and surveillance equipment and methods.”

The primary goal is to strengthen the technical capabilities of the Drug Enforcement Directorate, which will also collaborate with other Hellenic Police services and national agencies, including Customs and Port Authorities, in investigating criminal networks at national, European, and international levels.

This initiative aims to combat cross-border threats, especially those involving containers entering the European Union through major ports like Piraeus and Thessaloniki.

The project is funded by the European Union with an 80% contribution from OLAF and a 20% contribution from national sources. (18/11/25)
