Drones were sighted over Antwerp’s port area on Thursday night, as European issues raise concerns, with some governments blaming Russia. Drones were also seen above Sint-Truiden’s Royal School for Non-Commissioned Officers on Tuesday and Wednesday nights. Following a National Security Council meeting on Thursday, Belgium’s Interior Minister Bernard Quintin assured the public that authorities had the matter “under control.” Defense Minister Theo Francken committed to enhancing the National Air Security Center (NASC), aiming for full operation by January 1, stating that it will improve monitoring and protection of Belgian airspace while preparing for future air security challenges.
