Bratislava – The government’s approved amendments to the use of EU funds will ensure that Slovakia fully utilizes all available EU resources without any loss. Achieving complete utilization of EU funds is a critical step in driving Slovakia’s economic growth. This announcement was made by Prime Minister Robert Fico (Smer-SD) via social media on Thursday, as reported by TASR.
In this context, Robert Fico expressed his gratitude to the Minister of Investments, Regional Development, and Informatization of Slovakia, Samuel Migaľ (independent), for presenting the government proposal. “The revision of the use of European funds was approved by the government yesterday. I appreciate Minister Migaľ, fellow ministers, and the leaders of higher territorial units for their collaboration,” Fico remarked.
The Prime Minister also acknowledged the Minister of the Environment of Slovakia, Tomáš Taraba (nominated by SNS), for his strong advocacy of the government’s stance at official forums, which he believes protects the economic interests and competitiveness of the EU against unrealistic climate objectives.
Fico also expressed hope that the Visegrad Group (V4) countries would adopt a similar approach at the European level. “I trust that the V4 will succeed in opposing the new emissions allowance system, which is set to raise fuel and energy prices significantly,” Fico stated.
On Wednesday (November 5), the government approved the proposal from the Minister of Investments, which involves modifications to the Slovakia Program in light of the EU’s new “Modernized Cohesion Policy.” This change will reallocate over 10% of the program’s funds to new strategic priorities of the Union. “The proposed reallocation within the Slovakia Program will enable the Slovak Republic to seize several advantages and incentives, which are vital for the ongoing consolidation of public finances,” the Ministry of Investments noted in its submission report.
