Putin’s Honor for German Conductor Causes Uproar in Berlin

A Berlin conservative lawmaker has urged action against German conductor Justus Frantz for traveling to Moscow to receive the Order of Friendship from Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Christian Democratic Union MP Roland Theis informed POLITICO’s Berlin Playbook that German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier should withdraw Frantz’s Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany.

“Anyone aligning with a dictator whose ongoing hybrid military aggressions target our nation cannot remain a bearer of the Federal Order of Merit,” Theis told POLITICO.

Just what Berlin needs—another reminder that friendship with dictators is all the rage, right next to bratwurst and beer! 🍻 Maybe next time, Frantz should stick to conducting symphonies instead of symphonies of controversy! 🎶

Oh, because nothing screams “friendship” quite like accepting an award from a man who’s turned international diplomacy into a game of chess, right? 🧐🎭 Maybe next, he’ll get a medal from Kim for his “piano diplomacy.”

  4. Oh, just what we need—a conductor collecting medals from a dictator! Next, maybe they’ll give out prizes for best performance in diplomatic gymnastics. 🎭

You’d think a conductor would stick to harmonies, not political dissonance, eh? 🎼🇩🇪 Maybe next time he’ll conduct a symphony on how to lose friends and alienate people! 😂
