R. Takáč: The ETS2 Emissions Trading System Must Be Abolished; EU Decarbonization is Unrealistic

Bratislava – Richard Takáč, the Minister of Agriculture of the Slovak Republic from Smer-SD, called for the abolition of the EU emissions trading system known as ETS2, arguing that the EU’s goal of decarbonization is unrealistic. This statement was made during the Sunday discussion program TA3 In Politics. Opposition MP Tamara Stohlová from the National Council of the Slovak Republic reminded the minister that the Slovak government manages the Social-Climate Fund, which can assist households adversely affected by ETS2, according to TASR.

“It’s nice, but globally the European Union does not operate on a separate globe, somewhere else, it is part of the world as such,” said Richard Takáč, emphasizing that the EU’s pursuit of carbon neutrality will have little impact without cooperation from major players like China and the USA. He cautioned that the EU must maintain its competitiveness relative to other regions.

Tamara Stohlová criticized ruling coalition politicians for alarming citizens about potential increases in energy and transportation costs due to the introduction of the ETS2 system. She pointed out that the Social-Climate Fund, overseen by Deputy Prime Minister Peter Kmec (Hlas-SD), could be utilized for this purpose, highlighting that Minister of the Environment Tomáš Taraba (nominated by SNS) is responsible for implementing it and developing relevant legislation.

“The fund has approximately 1.5 billion euros, which Slovakia does not include in its finances and can be used, for instance, for compensating households,” the opposition MP noted. (November 2)

  1. Brilliant, isn’t it? A minister calls for the abolition of emissions trading while juggling billions in a fund like it’s Monopoly money. Can’t wait to see how that plays out in the next episode of “As the Climate Turns.” 😏💰

Honestly, if we scrap ETS2, we might as well send a thank-you card to Mother Nature for her patience. 🌍💸 Who needs decarbonization when we can just keep the status quo and watch the world burn, right? Classic EU logic! 😂

  3. Oh sure, let’s just abolish the ETS2, because who needs a clean planet when we can keep our energy bills nice and cozy, right? 😂 If only the rest of the world would just follow our lead, we’d be sipping espresso in a smoke-free paradise! ☕️🌍

  4. Oh, brilliant, more talk about abolishing ETS2—because who needs a cleaner planet when we’ve got the charm of Slovak politics? 😂 Might as well throw in a “carbon neutrality? What’s that?” for good measure!

  5. Oh, brilliant! Let’s just toss out the emissions trading system and hope the wind blows all our pollution to someone else’s backyard, shall we? Classic Slovak strategy: if you can’t beat ’em, just pretend they don’t exist! 😏💨

  6. If only our dear Minister Takáč could just wave a magic wand and make emissions disappear, eh? It’s like asking a cat to swim—absolute nonsense, really. 😂

So, we’re just gonna scrap the ETS2, eh? Brilliant plan! I mean, who needs a clean planet when we can just keep burning the midnight oil, right? 😂

  8. Oh, brilliant! Who needs a plan for decarbonization when you can simply wave your hands and declare it unrealistic? Classic EU strategy—let’s just keep on chugging like a good ol’ diesel train, shall we? 🚂💨

Nice to see our politicians getting cozy in the debate about carbon credits while the rest of us are just trying to afford our morning espresso ☕. Decarbonization? More like decaf-ination, if you ask me! 😂

So, Minister Takáč thinks we can just wave a magic wand and ignore the rest of the world while playing carbon poker? Classic! 😂 Maybe next he’ll suggest we eliminate Mondays too for a happier EU! #WishfulThinking

Isn’t it charming how our dear Minister believes the EU can decarbonize while the rest of the world is still playing in the coal mine? 🤷‍♂️ Maybe next they’ll suggest we just turn off the heating and call it a day! 😂

Oh, what a revelation! Who knew the EU was just a tiny speck on the global map? Maybe we should start charging rent for all that hot air they blow about decarbonization! 😏💨

  13. Seems like our dear Minister Takáč thinks that aiming for decarbonization is as realistic as finding a unicorn in the middle of Bratislava. 🤦‍♂️ Good luck competing with China and the US while we’re still figuring out our own mess! 😂

Not sure what’s more unrealistic—EU’s decarbonization dreams or the idea that they’ll actually use that 1.5 billion euros wisely. 🇸🇰💸

Abolishing ETS2? Brilliant idea! Let’s just stick our heads in the sand and pretend the rest of the world isn’t busy with their own emissions, shall we? 🌍💨

  16. Oh, brilliant! Who knew that tackling climate change required a PhD in geopolitics? 🤔 Maybe if we just ignore it, the carbon fairy will come and fix everything. Cheers! 🍻

Oh, brilliant move, really! Why bother with emissions trading when we can just sit back and watch the world burn while counting our euros? 💸🌍

Can’t wait for the EU to decarbonize while the rest of the world laughs and keeps burning fossil fuels like it’s 1999. 🌍💨 Who needs competitiveness when you’ve got lofty ideals, right? 😂

Oh, brilliant! Abolishing ETS2 sounds like the perfect solution to our carbon woes—who needs a cleaner planet when we can just keep burning fossil fuels and calling it a day, eh? 😂💸

Looks like Minister Takáč is ready to toss the whole ETS2 system out the window—because who needs clean air when we can keep playing in the mud with our global pals, right? 😂 Just a suggestion, but maybe we could use that 1.5 billion for a carbon-neutral holiday instead? 🍷
