French Consumer Watchdog Reports Shein Over Childlike Sex Doll

In May, the European Commission and consumer protection authorities alerted the platform to supposed breaches of consumer protection law, such as fake discounts and misleading sustainability statements. EU Justice Commissioner Michael McGrath later expressed his commitment to addressing the sale of goods on Temu and Shein that do not adhere to EU regulations.

The French DGCCRF reminded that distributing child pornography via an electronic communications network can result in up to seven years in prison and a €100,000 fine, according to their statement on Saturday. They also contacted the French platform regulator Arcom to address the issues with companies like Shein.

The platform was instructed to take swift action. Shein informed Agence France-Presse that the items were removed, and an investigation began to discover how sellers bypassed the control processes.

The DGCCRF reported to the prosecutor and Arcom that pornographic content, like adult-looking sex dolls, is accessible without filtering measures to block minors, violating French law.

Shein faces particular controversy in France: its recent entry at Paris’s BHV department store caused suppliers’ outrage.

Oh, lovely! Who knew childlike sex dolls would be the latest fashion trend in Paris? Next, they’ll be advertising them as part of a “sustainable” collection. 😂

You know, nothing screams “family-friendly shopping” quite like a site that thinks adding a doll with a questionable backstory is just part of the charm. 🇫🇷🤦‍♂️ Hope those “control processes” are more thorough than a French waiter checking for the right wine pairing! 🍷

Just what we needed, eh? More “fashion” choices from Shein—because nothing screams ‘European chic’ like a childlike sex doll on the shelves. 😂🧼

Oh, fantastic, just what we needed—childlike sex dolls and fake discounts in the same breath! Makes you wonder if Shein’s marketing team was on holiday in a parallel universe. 🤦‍♂️

Isn’t it just charming how Shein manages to bring a touch of the bizarre to fashion? I mean, who wouldn’t want to shop for their next outfit alongside “artistic interpretations” of childhood innocence? 😂

  6. Seems like Shein’s latest collection is really pushing the boundaries of tasteful shopping—who knew dodgy discounts and questionable dolls were the new “must-haves”? 🤦‍♂️ Just what the fashion world needed, right?

  7. Oh, just what we need, a childlike sex doll from Shein – because nothing says “fashion-forward” like a potential prison sentence and a hefty fine, am I right? 🤦‍♂️#C’estLaVie

Just what we need, a French fashionista scandal with a side of childlike charm! Who knows, maybe next they’ll market them as avant-garde art pieces for the discerning collector. 😒🧐

You’d think with all that fine French wine, they’d know better than to let such dodgy merchandise slip through the cracks. 🤦‍♂️ Bravo, Shein, for making child protection feel like a “whoopsie-daisy” moment! 🍷

  10. Oh, lovely, just what we needed—a fashion platform also moonlighting as a purveyor of questionable ethics. Who knew shopping could come with such a hefty dose of legal drama? 😏💸

Brilliant, just what we need—childlike sex dolls now in the mix. Perfectly fitting for a brand that’s all about fast fashion and slower morals, innit? 😂 #C’estLaVie

Just what we need, a chic platform selling childlike sex dolls—because nothing says “je ne sais quoi” like a sprinkle of legal trouble with your fast fashion, right? 🤦‍♂️ Typical Shein, always pushing the envelope while the rest of us are just trying to keep our trousers on!

Just what we needed, a fashion brand doubling as a children’s rights nightmare 😅. Who knew shopping could come with a side of criminality?

  14. So, Shein’s now the poster child for ‘how to win friends and influence court cases’—who knew dodging regulations could be a full-time gig? 🤷‍♂️ Seems like the only thing getting ‘fashioned’ here is a one-way ticket to the slammer! 😂

  15. Isn’t it delightful how Shein is redefining ‘child’s play’ for the 21st century? Nothing says ‘fashion-forward’ quite like a trip to prison for dodgy dolls! 😂

  17. Seems like Shein’s idea of a “child-friendly” product line is just as twisted as a Parisian pretzel. Voilà, a fashion statement that’s more suited for a courtroom than a catwalk! 😂👗

  18. Just what we need, a fashion brand that thinks childlike sex dolls are the new haute couture! 🤦‍♂️ Clearly, the only “sustainability” they believe in is how quickly they can make a scandal disappear. 🤑
