Apple requests Brussels to revoke the digital markets law

BRUSSELS – Apple has claimed that the Digital Markets Act (DMA) results in a “worse experience for Apple users in the EU” and poses security risks.

In a formal submission to the European Commission, Apple urged the withdrawal of the DMA until a more appropriate legislative solution is created.

The legislation requires app developers to inform users about alternative app stores and offers available outside the Apple App Store. However, Apple argues that allowing the download of alternative app stores introduces security vulnerabilities.

The company has also reported an increase in user complaints regarding changes made to comply with DMA mandates, though it has not revealed the number of complaints received.

Earlier this year, Apple was fined 500 million euros by Brussels for breaching the DMA, with the Commission accusing the company of restricting app distribution to its own store. Apple has appealed the decision, asserting that both the ruling and the fine exceed the legal requirements.

Oh, look who’s suddenly concerned about user experience – the same folks who charge an arm and a leg for a charger. Classic Apple, trying to dodge a slap on the wrist while pretending they’re the knights in shining armor of digital safety. 🍏💸

  2. Oh, look at Apple, all concerned about user experience and security now—who knew they cared? Maybe next they’ll ask us to pay them for the privilege of being “vulnerable” too! 😂

Looks like Apple’s having a bit of a tantrum over the DMA—who knew they were so sensitive? 🙄 Next, they’ll be asking for a safe space in Brussels, just to protect their delicate little apps! 🍏💼

  4. Seems like Apple thinks the DMA is just a fancy way to ruin their “perfect” ecosystem—who knew they cared so much about our “safety”? 😂 Classic move, mate!

Oh, look at Apple trying to play the victim card while throwing a tantrum in Brussels! 🤷‍♂️ Next, they’ll be claiming the DMA is a plot to turn their precious users into pirates. 🍏💸

Looks like Apple thinks the Digital Markets Act is a bit too “free” for their liking—who knew a company could be allergic to competition? 🍏😂
