European Spartan Exercise 2025 Flight Training to Be Hosted at Bezmer Air Base

AVIATION BASE “Bezmer” – The European Spartan Exercise 2025 (ESE 25) will commence its flight training at Bezmer Airport near Yambol on September 23, as announced by the airbase. Tactical flights and other operations will take place in the Bezmer and Cheshnegirovo airport areas until October 3. Participants include representatives from the Air Forces of Bulgaria, Italy, Spain, Greece, and Lithuania.

The ESE 25 flight training is being conducted under a program agreement involving C-27J aircraft operators from the European Union.

Notably, this year marks the first time that countries operating Casa C-295 aircraft have been invited to participate, as decided by the Program Management Committee for C-27J. The aim is to improve operational compatibility and optimize resources.

The training will include tactical landing approaches, low-altitude and tactical flights, troop and cargo drops, as well as air medical evacuation, according to the press center of the “Bezmer” airbase.

The Bulgarian Air Force previously hosted the international flight training European Spartan Exercise in 2022, featuring four C-27J military transport aircraft with crews from Bulgaria, Italy, Lithuania, and Romania. Participants received their certificates at a ceremony held on September 18 in the Yambol “Bezisten.”

  1. Oh, brilliant! Nothing like a bunch of countries flying around in circles to prove we can drop troops and cargo—who needs a proper vacation when you can have “tactical flights” at Bezmer, right? 😂✈️

Oh, fantastic! Nothing screams “teamwork” like a bunch of countries flying around in fancy C-27Js while trying not to drop their cargo on each other’s heads. 🤷‍♂️ Can’t wait to see who wins the award for best tactical landing—bet it’s a real nail-biter! 😂✈️

  3. Oh great, more tactical flights and cargo drops at Bezmer—because nothing screams “teamwork” like a bunch of countries arguing over who gets to land first. 😂✈️

Oh, fabulous! Nothing like a good old Spartan workout in the sky to remind us that flying the C-27J is just as intense as a hike in the Alps, eh? 😂 Hope the only thing dropping from the skies is cargo, and not my hopes for a peaceful September!

  5. Oh joy, nothing screams “let’s improve our military tactics” like parading a bunch of planes around Bezmer. I can already hear the locals chanting, “More flying, less traffic!” 😂✈️

Just what we needed, more military exercises in the Balkans. Because nothing says “peaceful cooperation” quite like low-altitude flying and cargo drops over Yambol, right? 🤦‍♂️✈️

Oh, fantastic! Nothing like a bit of tactical flying over Yambol to spice up September—just what the locals ordered, right? 🎉✈️
