Ljubljana – Slovenia is identified as one of the countries with high ambitions in the European Commission’s report on the digital decade. The Commission recommends that Slovenia enhance efforts to aid small and medium-sized enterprises in adopting digital and advanced technologies, as announced by the Ministry of Digital Transformation on Tuesday.
All 13 national objectives of Slovenia’s digital decade align with the EU goals for 2030. Sixty-three percent of these goals are progressing as scheduled, and the country has addressed 82 percent of the European Commission’s 2024 recommendations. The ministry highlighted key successes including a notable expansion of 5G network coverage, particularly in rural regions, and consistent growth in high-capacity optical infrastructure.
The 2025 report on the state of the digital decade underscores Slovenia’s advancements in artificial intelligence, with nearly double the number of companies utilizing it compared to earlier data. Furthermore, Slovenia’s digital public services are accessible and near the European average for both citizens and businesses.
According to the ministry, the updated national strategy, Digital Slovenia 2030, comprises 81 measures totaling 685 million euros, equivalent to 1.02 percent of GDP, reinforcing the country’s development trajectory. Digital transformation is also a crucial element of the recovery and resilience plan, which allocates 513 million euros for digital initiatives.
