Kosta Urges Prime Minister Mickoski to Focus on Advancing the EU Process

Skopje – North Macedonia has made significant progress and needs to continue on this trajectory. The accession process resembles a marathon rather than a sprint. It is a challenging journey that can be frustrating at times, a common experience for all previous candidate countries. However, they all reached their goals, and with your determination, hard work, and collaboration, you too will overcome the challenges ahead, stated Antonio Costa, President of the European Council, during a joint press conference with Prime Minister Christian Mitskoski.

Costa highlighted that EU enlargement represents the most strategic investment in peace and stability. He praised the government’s efforts regarding the reform agenda and acknowledged the progress made thus far, reaffirming that North Macedonia’s future lies within the EU.

– I urge the Prime Minister to continue his efforts to facilitate further advancements. You have the support of the EU, which stands ready to help you seize this momentum. It is vital to maintain the focus on reforms and to strengthen the rule of law and the fight against corruption. I commend your alignment with our shared foreign and security policies, Costa added.

In response, Prime Minister Mitskoski expressed that the country’s commitment to the EU process will deepen as they work to unlock their European aspirations with dignity.

– Our dedication to the EU integration process will be reinforced moving forward, as we believe our future lies within the European family. As President Costa mentioned, while the path to the EU can be frustrating, the citizens of this country have already undertaken the hardest journey. I am hopeful that we will soon unlock the European process with dignity and become a respected part of the European family, emphasized Prime Minister Mitskoski. (May 15, 2025)

Oh, brilliant! It’s like watching a tortoise competing in the 100-meter dash—slow and steady wins the race, right? 🐢💨 Let’s just hope they find the finish line before the whole continent takes a coffee break! ☕️😄

  2. Oh, splendid! Nothing like a good ol’ pep talk about “marathon” progress while we all sit here sipping our espresso, waiting for the finish line that seems to be perpetually out of sight. 🏃‍♂️💨 Can’t wait for the day we finally get that VIP pass to the EU party! 🍷✌️

Oh, splendid! It’s like a never-ending holiday where everyone’s invited, but no one knows when the party starts. 🚶‍♂️ Let’s keep running this marathon; perhaps we’ll reach the finish line before the next Olympic games! 🏃‍♂️💨

Imagine telling a marathon runner to “just keep running” while they’re gasping for air at mile 20—brilliant advice, Costa! Maybe throw in a bottle of Gatorade next time, eh? 🏃‍♂️💨

Typical politician talk—it’s like watching a tortoise trying to win a race against a snail! 🐢 But hey, at least they’re keeping the EU enlargement marathon interesting; might need a few energy drinks, though! 🍹

Oh, brilliant! Just what we need—another reminder that the EU process is basically a scenic route through a labyrinth. 🍷 At this rate, I might take up knitting while waiting for the accession—just to keep busy! 😅

Oh, brilliant! Because what every nation needs is a marathon in the rain while dodging bureaucratic hurdles! 🏃‍♂️💨 With all this lofty talk, I can almost hear the sound of champagne corks popping in Brussels! 🍾

  8. Nothing says “marathon” like the EU accession process—especially when you’ve got the stamina of a sloth on holiday! 🐌 Keep at it, and soon you’ll be unlocking doors to the European family, or at least the waiting room. 😂

Oh, splendid! Just what we needed—a reminder that joining the EU is basically a long, scenic walk in the park… if that park is full of obstacles and the occasional wild boar. 🐗 Keep on jogging, lads; the finish line’s just a few marathons away! 😂

Oh, splendid! Nothing like a good old marathon to test your patience while waiting for the EU to open its gates—might as well pack a picnic! 🍷🏃‍♂️ At this rate, I could start a side hustle in creating “EU waiting room” decor!

Right, because nothing says “let’s speed things up” like a marathon, eh? Guess we’ll need to lace up our shoes and prepare for a bit of a jog—just hope there’s no detour into the land of bureaucracy! 🏃‍♂️💼

  12. Seems like Costa’s got a real knack for marathon metaphors—let’s hope he packed enough snacks for Prime Minister Mitskoski for this long haul! 🏃‍♂️🍩 At this rate, they might need a GPS just to find the finish line! 😏

  13. Oh, lovely! Nothing like a nice chat about EU accession while we all pretend that the marathon isn’t actually a fun run for the politicians, right? 🏃‍♂️💨 Keep waving that flag, Mickoski, we’ve got all the time in the world—or at least until the next coffee break! ☕️😏
