Council of Ministers of Education: Strengthening Greek Schools Against Crises, Skills Development Workshops, and University Internationalization

Sofia Zacharaki, the Minister of Education, attended the EU Education, Youth, Culture and Sports Ministers’ Summit in Brussels, where she highlighted key discussion points with her fellow ministers. The focus was on the resilience of Greek schools amid various crises and the importance of the Skills Laboratory.

“During the EU Education Ministers’ Summit, we will address two main themes: the resilience of Greek schools, students, and teachers in the face of ongoing challenges, and the enhancement of skill development. I will discuss the Skills Laboratory, covering what students gain through school such as environmental education, STEM skills, and lessons on inclusivity and empathy. These foundational skills are crucial for collaboration, learning how to learn, and fostering critical thinking,” she stated.

Upon her arrival at the summit, Ms. Zacharaki emphasized the digital resources that have been made available to public schools and the ongoing efforts to enhance skills education. “I will highlight our initiatives in crisis management, the establishment of a digital school, and the digital tools provided to public schools.” She also mentioned the psychosocial support systems in place for both teachers and students, including the involvement of psychologists and social workers, as well as essential training for educators. She underscored the importance of cultivating skills, principles, and values within the school environment.

At the summit, the Education Ministers are also deliberating on the European quality assurance and recognition framework for higher education, as well as the newly announced Skills Union aimed at bolstering the European Educational Area. Ms. Zacharaki spoke about the internationalization of Greek universities, which is another crucial topic of today’s discussions.

“Today’s summit will cover internationalization and the global engagement of universities. Greece will showcase a positive development: our partnership between Greek universities and international institutions. This initiative represents an ongoing effort towards internationalization that has been supported by the Ministry of Education for many years,” she concluded. (12/5/25)

So, we’re finally internationalizing Greek universities? Brilliant! Nothing like a solid crisis management plan to prepare students for the real world—especially when the world’s just a click away. 🎓💻🤔

So, we’re strengthening Greek schools, eh? Must be nice to have a “Skills Laboratory”—here I was thinking they were just labs for making ouzo! 🍷 Let’s hope this internationalization stuff doesn’t involve sending Greek students to learn about diplomacy in, say, a kebab stand in Berlin. 😏

So, we’re taking Greek schools on a little field trip to Brussels for a “crisis makeover”? Fantastic, because nothing screams educational resilience like a fancy summit and a few digital tools—who needs actual resources when you have a Skills Laboratory, right? 😏📚

So, let me get this straight: Greek schools are getting a “Skills Laboratory” while the rest of us are still figuring out how to open a PDF? What a time to be alive! 😂 #ProgressInTheMaking

Oh great, more workshops to teach Greek schools how to survive crises—because navigating a global marketplace with a side of existential dread really needs a curriculum upgrade. 🥴 But hey, at least they’ll learn to be resilient whilst juggling STEM skills and empathy! Bravo, really! 🙄

Oh great, more “skills development workshops”—because what every student really needs is a crash course in crisis management while juggling environmental education and STEM, right? 🤔 Just what we need, another round of fancy buzzwords to fix the same old problems. Cheers to progress! 🎉

Isn’t it just delightful that while the world spins into chaos, the Greek education system is busy strengthening resilience and digital tools? 🤔 I mean, who needs actual solutions when you can just sprinkle a bit of “skills development” fairy dust on everything, right? #JustKidding #WeNeedMoreThanWorkshops
