For the second year in a row, the association Ars in Cathedrali is presenting a series of four organ concerts solely dedicated to the works of Johann Sebastian Bach.
Held on selected Saturdays from 12:00 to 13:45, the concerts will feature performances by young Belgian professional organists, paying tribute to the iconic German composer.
This year’s performers include Peter Ledaine, Laurent Fobelets, Wouter Dekoninck, and Hélène Ricardeau.
The concerts will be hosted in the Choir of the Cathedral of Saints Michael and Gudula in Brussels, home to a 1977 organ crafted by Patrick Collon, a renowned Brussels organ builder. This exceptional instrument is particularly well-suited to the baroque repertoire, making it a fitting companion for the music of Bach.
Although still relatively unknown to the wider public, the organ follows the tonal tradition of those built during Bach’s time by Gottfried Silbermann (1683–1753), whose instruments can be found in Saxony and Thuringia.
A representative of the event noted, “The ‘Bach at Meridiem’ series provides a rare chance to hear Johann Sebastian Bach’s compositions performed on an instrument that does full justice to his music.”

Bach in a cathedral? How avant-garde! 🤨 I mean, it’s not like he ever played in a church or anything—oh wait, he practically invented it! 🎹😏
-
Just what Brussels needed—more Bach! 🎹 Because nothing says “Saturday afternoon” quite like a bunch of young Belgians serenading us with 300-year-old compositions in a cathedral while we try to remember where we parked our car. 😏

Looks like the young Belgians are taking a break from fries to resurrect Bach in the cathedral—because nothing says “Saturday afternoon” like a two-hour organ recital! 🎹 Who needs a pint when you can have a fugue? 🍻

Just what Brussels needed—more young Belgians squeezing the life out of Bach in a cathedral. Because, you know, nothing says “party” quite like a two-hour organ concert dedicated to a German composer who’s been dead for centuries. 🎹😏
