Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy strongly condemned a recent Russian missile strike, asserting that these attacks are deliberate, not accidental. “The Russians know exactly what they’re hitting,” Zelenskyy said in a post on X, formerly Twitter. He stressed the importance of the international community responding to every Russian attack on civilians and cities. “It is critically important not to leave this Russian strike on civilians, on the city — every such strike — without a response from the world,” he added in another post.
Several European leaders swiftly condemned the assault. EU High Representative Kaja Kallas described the attack as evidence that “Russia continues to destroy Ukraine, no interest in peace,” calling the scenes from Kryvyi Rih — Zelenskyy’s hometown — “tragic and inhumane.”
Dutch Defense Minister Ruben Brekelmans echoed that urgency, emphasizing the need to “accelerate support for Ukraine.” Czech Foreign Minister Jan Lipavský referred to the strike as “barbarism.”
In a separate message, Zelenskyy expressed appreciation for the solidarity shown by European nations, Japan, the United Kingdom and Switzerland. However, he criticized the response from U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine Bridget Brink as “surprisingly disappointing.”
“Such a strong country, such a strong people, and yet such a weak reaction,” Zelenskyy remarked. “They are afraid to even say the word ‘Russian’ when speaking about the missile that murdered children,” he added in another impassioned social media post.
