Oud-Heverlee (Eurotoday) – The park in Oud-Heverlee, near Leuven, has recently received several upgrades, including a skate park, pump track, modern playground, and a new pavilion. Mayor Bart Clerckx emphasized that further improvements are underway, such as pond renovations and upgraded pathways, all aimed at increasing the park’s appeal to visitors.
According to local authorities, Oud-Heverlee park, located near Leuven in Belgium, has undergone significant updates. Among the new additions are a skate park, pump track, and a revitalized playground, making it a more engaging space for people of all ages.
What are the latest improvements to Oud-Heverlee park?
The former cafeteria has been replaced with a newly constructed pavilion, which now includes public restrooms. Additional facilities, such as updated bathrooms in the adjacent youth center, have also been introduced. Mayor Clerckx commented that these upgrades make the park more accessible and enjoyable for visitors.
Despite recent enhancements, the park continues to evolve. Renovations to its ponds are currently underway, with tree removal around the water features forming part of a broader environmental strategy. These actions aim to improve the park’s ecological value and overall visual appeal.
Officials noted that these renovations are being coordinated with the Agency for Nature and Forests and the provincial government. As part of the project, the Vaalbeek River will be reconnected to the ponds, enhancing water flow and natural integration.
The park will also feature a new waterside walking path, offering visitors a fresh way to explore the area. Additionally, plans are in place to upgrade the De Rosenberg community center and to redesign Maurits Noëstraat, the road that runs through the park. These efforts are part of a comprehensive initiative to modernize infrastructure and visitor amenities within the park.
“Thanks to these further developments, this place south of Leuven and the beating heart of the Brabantse Wouden National Park will fully regain its historical and natural splendor,”
the mayor concluded.
