France: Marine Le Pen Declared Ineligible Immediately

Paris – On Monday, the Paris Correctional Court imposed a five-year ineligibility sentence on Marine Le Pen, leader of the far-right National Rally (RN), along with a four-year prison term, of which two years will be served under an electronic bracelet, allowing her to avoid actual incarceration.

This ineligibility ruling may hinder the 56-year-old Le Pen’s potential candidacy in the 2027 presidential election, where she was considered a strong contender following three previous attempts.

The court justified its ruling by underscoring Le Pen’s “central role” in a scheme designed to misappropriate funds from the European Parliament, citing “disturbance to public order and democratic functioning.” The scheme enabled the RN to pay “fictitious” parliamentary assistants between 2004 and 2016 who were effectively working for the party.

The Kremlin condemned her conviction as a “violation of democratic norms,” while Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban expressed his support on X, stating “I am Marine!”. (March 31, 2025)

  1. Just when you thought French politics couldn’t get any more entertaining, they go and slap a five-year timeout on le pen! 😂 Maybe next time she should consider sticking to actual parliamentary duties instead of playing hide-and-seek with the funds, eh? 🍷

Oh, look at that! Seems like Le Pen’s big plans for the 2027 election just hit a wee speed bump—call it a “brake” for democracy! 🚦 Who knew parliamentary assistants could be so… “fictitious”? Classic European sitcom material right there! 😂

Oh là là, looks like Le Pen’s got a new ‘bracelet’ to match her political wardrobe—nothing like a little electronic chic to spice up a five-year holiday from real politics! 😂 Who knew being ineligible could be such a fashionable statement?

Isn’t it just delightful when democracy takes a holiday? 😂 I guess Marine will have to find a new hobby—maybe knitting sweaters for her imaginary assistants? 🧶

Seems like Le Pen’s political career just hit the snooze button – five years of “me time” with a side of an electronic bracelet? Talk about a fashionable new accessory for the next election! 😂🍷

Brilliant move, really—who needs a presidential candidate when you can have a reality show star in an electronic bracelet? 😂 Talk about a plot twist in French politics, only in La Belle France, eh? 🍷
