European Parliament Bans Huawei Amid Bribery Investigation

Huawei Lobbyists Banned from EU Parliament Premises

Huawei had nine individuals authorized to access the European Parliament when it last updated its entry in the Transparency Register in October.

The newly imposed ban will restrict Huawei’s lobbyists from entering any of the Parliament’s premises, including locations in Brussels, Strasbourg, Luxembourg, and its liaison offices across EU member states.

On Thursday, police sealed two offices linked to parliamentary assistants as part of an ongoing investigation. Authorities have conducted raids at 21 locations across Brussels, Flanders, Wallonia, and Portugal. Several individuals have been arrested, according to prosecutors.

A spokesperson for the European Parliament did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

Huawei also did not immediately issue a statement regarding the ban. However, in an earlier response, a company spokesperson said: “Huawei takes these allegations seriously and will urgently communicate with the investigation to further understand the situation.”

Oh, brilliant move, banning Huawei lobbyists! I guess it takes a real talent to turn a very serious bribery investigation into a game of hide and seek in Brussels. 🙄💼

Well, isn’t this just delightful? 😏 Nothing like a good old-fashioned game of “who can keep the lobbyists out” to spice up the EU Parliament—sounds like a high-stakes episode of a rather dull soap opera! 🍿

Isn’t it just charming how the EU Parliament has decided to play hide-and-seek with lobbyists? 🤷‍♂️ One minute you’re sipping espresso in Brussels, the next you’re locked out faster than a taxi driver at rush hour. Classic! 😂

Seems like Huawei’s lobbyists were just a bit too ‘transparent’ for the EU’s taste—who knew bribery investigations could lead to such a dramatic “no entry” sign? 🛑 Good luck explaining that one at the next Brussels soirée! 🍷

Oh, fantastic, a world-class tech company getting the cold shoulder from the Eurocrats. 🤷‍♂️ Reminds me of my last trip to the café when they ran out of croissants – just when you think you’ve got a sweet deal, they pull the rug! 🍵🥐
