According to Vatican officials, his health is critical, but he will not resign because there are no rules for a pope who cannot work. He cannot attend public events but continues to do his duties as much as he can. The Vatican asks everyone to pray for his recovery while doctors watch over him.

On Sundays at noon, the Pope leads the Angelus from a window in the Vatican. He talks to the crowd and gives a blessing.
