UAE President tells U.S. Senator Rubio it opposes the displacement of Palestinians

Dubai (Eurotoday) – Emirati President Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan told visiting US Secretary of State Marco Rubio that the UAE firmly rejects any displacement of Palestinians, according to official media reports.

The Gulf state’s WAM news agency stated that the United Arab Emirates President

“affirmed the UAE’s firm position rejecting any attempts aimed at displacing the Palestinian people from their land.”

Nahyan further emphasized

“the need for the reconstruction of Gaza to be linked to a path leading to comprehensive and lasting peace based on the two-state solution.”

What is Trump’s controversial Gaza plan?

Earlier, President Donald Trump announced that the U.S. would take control of the Gaza Strip and rebuild it economically after relocating Palestinians elsewhere. He unveiled his surprise initiative—without providing details—during a joint press conference with visiting Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

In addition to his announcement, Trump previously proposed the permanent resettlement of approximately two million Palestinians from Gaza to neighboring nations. He referred to the enclave—where the first stage of a fragile Israel-Hamas ceasefire and hostage release agreement is in effect—as a “demolition site.”

“The U.S. will take over the Gaza Strip, and we will do a job with it too,”

Trump told reporters.

“We’ll own it and be responsible for dismantling all of the dangerous unexploded bombs and other weapons on the site.”

“We’re going to develop it, create thousands and thousands of jobs, and it’ll be something that the entire Middle East can be very proud of,”

Trump stated.

“I do see a long-term ownership position and I see it bringing great stability to that part of the Middle East.”
