60 Companies Collaborate to Propel the EU to AI Global Leadership

Paris – On Monday, the “EU AI Champions Initiative,” an alliance of approximately sixty major companies, was introduced to French President Emmanuel Macron, along with 15 other European heads of state and government, and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen at the Élysée Palace. This initiative aims to enhance the advancement of artificial intelligence across Europe.

The coalition includes prominent industrial firms such as Airbus, L’Oréal, and Mercedes, as well as tech giants like Spotify and Mistral AI.

The initiative seeks to foster a collaborative and constructive dialogue with the European Commission and member state governments, with the goal of establishing a significantly streamlined regulatory framework for this emerging technology.

Following the initiative’s unveiling at the Paris summit, initial discussions between European leaders and the coalition’s CEOs were set to commence “immediately.” (January 10, 2024)

Oh, splendid! Sixty companies getting cozy over AI while the rest of us are still trying to figure out how to pay for our croissants without a phone app. 🤷‍♂️ Just what we needed—more suits in a room discussing how to make our lives even more complex! 🥐💼
