13 Instances of Elon Musk Influencing Politics

Danish Prime Minister Rejects Greenland Proposal

Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen firmly opposed recent suggestions regarding Greenland. On a visit by Donald Trump Jr. to the island, Frederiksen reaffirmed her stance, stating, “Greenland belongs to the Greenlanders.”

Billionaire Elon Musk also weighed in on the matter via X (formerly Twitter), saying, “If the people of Greenland want to be part of America, which I hope they do, they would be most welcome!”

Netherlands: Musk Discusses Population Decline with Far-Right Politician

Elon Musk continued his trend of engaging with controversial figures, this time meeting with Dutch far-right politician Geert Wilders. Wilders, known for his anti-Islam and anti-migration rhetoric, discussed topics such as the Netherlands’ low birth rate with Musk.

Highlighting the issue, Musk claimed that “the Dutch nation will die out by its own hand.” With 12 children of his own, Musk may believe he has solutions for the country’s demographic challenges.

Venezuela: Tensions Between Musk and Maduro

Last August, tensions flared between Musk and Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro, resulting in a brief 10-day ban of X in the country. Musk had publicly criticized Maduro, calling him a “dictator” and a “clown” while accusing him of “major election fraud.”

Remarkably, even the U.S. government shares similar concerns about Maduro’s alleged election tampering.

Finland: Musk Revisits an Old Controversy

Before acquiring X, Musk stirred controversy in late 2021 by mocking then-Finnish Prime Minister Sanna Marin, who had visited a nightclub after being exposed to someone with COVID-19.

In a viral meme posted by Musk, two young adults were shown partying with the caption, “So what do you do for a living? I am the Prime Minister of Finland.” Though Musk later said Marin “seems cool,” the Finnish leader used the opportunity to highlight her country’s environmental policies.
