Tirana Hosts Tenth Edition of European Integration School: Gonzato Emphasizes Importance of Qualified Staff for Effective Negotiations

The tenth edition of the European Integration School has commenced in Tirana, attracting participants from various sectors, including administration, non-profits, business, media, and academia. Over the course of one week, attendees will deepen their understanding of EU policies, institutions, and Albania’s integration process, contributing actively to this effort.

Silvio Gonzato, the EU Delegation Ambassador in Tirana, spoke at the school’s opening ceremony, underscoring the importance of sustaining reform momentum for Albania’s goal of completing negotiation chapters by 2027.

He stressed the critical role of public administration in this journey.

“Now is the time that Albania needs you. Your country will benefit from your expertise, skills, and knowledge. The success of these negotiations relies on having qualified and motivated personnel in all essential institutions. Investing in individuals is crucial for establishing a professional, sustainable civil service capable of meeting Albania’s EU commitments. The European Union is fully committed to supporting Albania in developing the necessary structures, skills, and sustainability to fulfill its obligations to the EU,” said EU Ambassador Silvio Gonzato.

Ambassador Gonzato noted that Albania is entering a pivotal stage in the membership process following the opening of all cluster chapters.

“This is why the report indicates that Albania must sustain and even quicken the pace of reforms. This is vital if Albania aims to achieve the ambitious objective of concluding negotiations by the end of 2027,” Gonzato added.

Niko Peleshi, Chairman of the Assembly of Albania, acknowledged the significance of the European Integration School, highlighting that this year’s edition received a record 430 applications, double that of last year.

Peleshi remarked that Albania’s pursuit of EU membership has been a long-standing national goal. “We are diligently working to turn membership into reality. This progress fills us with optimism while serving as a reminder of the responsibilities ahead,” he stated.

The 10th edition of the European Integration School is organized by the Assembly of Albania and the National Council for European Integration, in collaboration with the Open Society Foundation for Albania (OSFA), the European Union Delegation, and the Friedrich Ebert Stiftung Foundation. Oh, brilliant! Who knew it took a decade of “education” to figure out that qualified staff might be useful for negotiations? Next, they’ll hold a seminar on breathing for a successful life! 😏

  2. Oh, brilliant! Nothing screams “we’re ready for the EU” quite like a school in Tirana with 430 eager beavers hoping to master the art of negotiation by 2027. Hope they serve some good coffee to keep them awake during those riveting lectures! 😏☕️

Looks like Albania’s on a fast track to EU membership—if only they could negotiate their way through a queue at a café! ☕💼 Good luck finding a qualified staff member in a sea of applications; at this rate, they’ll need a miracle! 😅

Oh, look who’s finally putting on their big kid pants—Albania’s European Integration School, where learning about EU policies is a bit like teaching a cat to fetch. 🎓🐱 Just hope they’ve got enough qualified staff to handle the paperwork when they actually get to the negotiation table!

Looks like Tirana’s throwing a party for the EU, and everyone’s invited—who knew integration was such a popular gig? 🎉 Bet the real achievement will be convincing folks that this isn’t just another excuse for some free snacks and a long chat about paperwork! 😂

  8. Blimey, a whole week of “deepening understanding” sounds like a right laugh, doesn’t it? Just what Albania needs – more suited folks discussing how to speed up the EU paperwork while the rest of us manage to survive on good old-fashioned common sense! 🤷‍♂️

Great, another school for integration – because clearly, what Albania really needs is more paperwork and less actual progress, right? 🤔✌️

Isn’t it charming how a decade in, and they’re still trying to figure out this whole “EU membership” thing? But hey, who wouldn’t want to spend a week in Tirana talking about qualifications while sipping espresso? ☕😂

  12. Oh, fantastic! Because nothing screams “we’re ready for the big leagues” quite like a school for integration where the most qualified staff get to negotiate… who’s bringing the coffee? ☕️💼

Oh, fantastic, another school for euro-bureaucracy enthusiasts in Tirana! Nothing says “we’re making progress” quite like a record number of applicants for a course on how to negotiate like a pro while still figuring out where the coffee machine is. 😂💼

Oh, look at Albania, hosting a fancy integration school while the rest of us are still trying to figure out how to get a decent cup of coffee! ☕️ Good luck turning those “motivated” attendees into experts before 2027, mate! 😏

  15. Oh, fantastic! Nothing says “we’re ready for Europe” quite like a classroom full of eager minds in Tirana! 🤔 Let’s just hope they remember to send a postcard when they finally negotiate those chapters—addressed to the future, of course! 📨
